I couldn’t say enough good things about my 2 night stay at this hotel. It was a great experience.nStaff was very friendly, the location was perfect, within walking distance to many attractions and 3 minutes to a bus, it was just a great hotel experience.nThe beds were comfortable, although the pillows could use some upgrading. The shower head was great and everything was perfect. Thank you again!
Clean, comfortable room and genuinely helpful service at the front desk. The location is excellent and very convenient for the city centre.nnUnfortunately, the breakfast experience seriously undermined the positives. Once staff started cleaning the buffet line, they did not simply make a general closing announcement — they approached guests at their tables and directly told us to leave. In our case, they even handed us a tray and instructed us to take the remaining food out to the lobby and finish it there instead.nnI understand breakfast has set hours, but this is not an acceptable or hospitable way to handle it. Guests who are already seated and eating should be allowed to finish their meal without being pressured to relocate. If the restaurant needs to stop service, a far more professional approach would be clear last-service communication and a polite, discreet process — not actively moving people out mid-meal. This single issue spoiled what otherwise could have been a good stay.
My wife and I stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Feb 2026, while visiting family. Fantastic value for money. The staff were great, and arranged for our daughter to be in the next door room when she arrived for a single night at the end of our stay. The hotel was spotless and the room was a decent size. Quiet stay throughout, other than the usual hotel noise as people head to their rooms. There's a Wetherspoons two minutes away if you're eating/drinkinh on a budget. The included breakfast was good.
Good hotel compared to most holiday inn expresses. The receptionist lady with dyed hair was lovely. I arrived way too early and wasnt expecting to be able to check in. She let me use the meeting room to work in peace and even brought me a coffee and a biscuit. Lovely gesture. Decent room. Breakfast was a bit rubbish but it’s a holiday inn express so that’s expected.
As a family with a 8 month old and 5 year old, we were pretty stressed when our connecting flight from Aberdeen was cancelled. We only arrived at around 10pm, but despite our state of high anxiety at that point, we were instantly put at ease by the person on reception, Dyson. He was super calm, helpful and kind, and really went above and beyond to ensure a difficult situation became not only tolerable but actually enjoyable not least for the 5 year old, who went from a major meltdown at the airport to saying it was the best hotel ever and he wanted to stay longer . The rooms were clean and comfortable too, but my wife and I both agreed that we wanted to express our gratitude for the level of service and general thoughtfulness from Dyson. Clearly a major asset to what is a well run and welcoming hotel.
