I used the Class Bento booking system to book a one-to-one sewing workshop at Hobbycraft. This was my first time sewing since Clothing and Textiles classes at secondary school many years ago! My instructor Pam was very patient and helped me to understand the basics of using a machine. During the hour, I learnt how to thread the machine, wind the thread around a bobbin, practise a few stitches and ended with a hem. I also got some tips on purchasing a machine as a beginner. All in all, well worth the £20 for the lesson. Now I’m even more motivated to start practising with simple patterns and hope to make my own outfits especially as bespoke clothing is so expensive!
Love a visit to Hobby Craft always spend more than I think I will.
Decent hobbycraft branch in forbury retail park, there's plenty of parking and it's on two floors so they have plenty of stock. Staff are friendly and helpful. They stock lots of children's craft items like paint, air dry and oven fired clay, plasticine, markers, felt tip pens, crayons, textiles, wool, sewing material, glue, glitter, stem products, plaster, Styrofoam, wood, papier-mache, etc. Plenty of stuff for the enthusiast, and kids alike.
Hobbycraft is one of the only places in Reading to buy material these days since Fabricland closed. Selection is very limited, and considering they have plenty of fat quarters for patchwork, their choice of wadding is poor, only polyester available no cotton wadding at all, or even precut cot quilt wadding which I found very surprising. Also no one available on the upper floor to cut the material and binding I wanted to buy. Not impressed.
My go to shop for my craft and up cycling projects. Most recent up cycling a table in to a cat toilet cover. Needed paper and glue to cover the top and some being bits to finish it off.
Brilliant store for an extensive range of art and craft supplies, including specialised brands of paints, canvases and other mediums. Also, plenty of storage options and products you may not have even thought of. On the same floor, there is a huge range of sewing supplies and walls full of canvas art. Worth a visit!
Helpful staff, but if you want to buy anything like spray paint don't forget Ur id
I keep re-visiting Hobbycraft to pick up the odd things like glue and twine, specifically because of the on-site security guard. All the staff at Hobbycraft, Reading are a delight to speak to, but I always receive a warm greeting from the security team.
You cans find everything you need, but lil bit expensive. Clean and tidy place. Customer service are ok!
I love going here. The selection of different craft materials is amazing, staff are super friendly and helpful, and there are lovely and bright decorations everywhere! Dog friendly, too!
