This was a fantastic station for both arrival and departure, maintaining its old roof and building style! The red and white bridge is a solid way across the platforms that are well-sized, departure boards are kept up to date too and signs help navigate around the area that was clean.
Train station on the Tynedale Line - used train from Carlisle on a Saturday and then to Thirsk on a Thursday in March 2025 -- Station operated by Northern Railway- it has a ticket office close on a Sunday, ticket machine, bridge over for the main way out - level access from a car park on the other sidennWaiting room and Platform café and customer information screens for train departuresnnonly 2 platformsnnA short walk intown and about 10 minutes to the bus station
Lovely town with good choice of shops free parking if you purchased a disc for a £1 nice walking and close to Hadrians wall
Pretty dire, no ramp for a anyone who's in a wheel chair, pram or bike. Place seems fairly empty so unsure who would come and help as per the sign. Toilets locked mid day too, what gives? Trains on the hour...So much for a push to use public transport
There are always pros and cons to using the Great British Rail, Hexham station is a somewhat small station with remnants of the past when it was still fun to travel by train throughout the country.
