We enjoyed a few days at short notice. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The hosts, Janet and Ken were friendly and helpful. The views and area are terrific. This was our third stay.
We had a lovely long weekend in Jenny Wren cottage. Janet was friendly and welcoming and the cottage was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of walks from the doorstep and several villages within 5-10 minutes drive for meals and walks. Padiham in particular was handy for groceries, having a big Tesco and a Lidl. Bring your binoculars for the view; we spotted rabbits both adults and babies, goldfinches, collared dove, starlings, house sparrows and possibly a lapwing and tree sparrow. We also saw grey herons around the fishery ponds. Excellent value and highly recommended.
Stayed at Height Top Farm, December 2014. The location was perfect. The owners are local farmers, but they should not be in any form of hospitality. We travel to the UK several times a yr and stay in the Pendle area. Our previous experiences have been great. The owners of Height Top Farm were 'inconvenienced' by our late arrival due to a flight delay. Cold weather as you would expect however, the owners limit heat in the property to 8hrs daily. Fine in warmer months, not in December. We had to pay extra for heating to keep the place hot. During a family function in a local town, I was called by the owners who told me that if I didn't return to the property before 10pm that evening they would put all our clothing/luggage out in the rain and refuse us access to the cottage. No idea if they have been ripped off before, but not a pleasant, hospitable way to run your 'holiday' let. The owners were confrontational, argumentative and thoroughly unpleasant to deal with. If there had been any other options alas there were not in the area to stay at we would have left the property early. Cant work out why there are no other reviews on this property? Not a recommendation. There are many super options in the area.
Lovely location and the cottage is super clean and comfortable. Stayed several times and wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
Great place to stay. Having been going back year after year. Very friendly owners who always make sure there is milk in the fridge and have something tasty waiting for you on arrival. A fantastic place to use as a base for a short weekend or longer visit. Can't wait to go back for another visit later this year.
