I've stayed in many hostels and this has to be one of my favourites. Such as lovely welcome from Christine the owner and all of the volunteers. It's clear to me that Christine wants people to feel comfortable and at home. One of the volunteers was helping for her third time - a great sign!nnI liked the extra touches like the board telling us what was happening locally that day. And the plants in the dorm bathroom were lovely.
Superb location, lovely staff, excellent facilities. A great hostel in a good location. They allow a few tents in the garden where that have small, funky pods and a tree house. Washers and dryers, cycle parking. Well priced.
If I ever find myself back in Stornoway, I will want to spend my time here - what an excellent hostel! I stayed in the women's dorm with an attached bathroom. Everything was clean, comfortable, and cozy. The shared bathroom was better than most hotels that I've stayed in.nI was able to do laundry while I was there and the machines were of good quality. Christine and the staff/volunteers were wonderful and helpful. The kitchen was well-stocked with supplies and I enjoyed eating breakfast around the table with interesting strangers. This was an excellent place to spend three nights in.
Great hostel, with friendly staff in the center of Stornoway. We spent there our first and last nights during our stay in the Outer Hebrides. Initially we wanted to sleep on a camping, but the prices in this hostel were very close to what we would have to pay for sleeping in a tent just outside Stornoway.nI did not sleep in many hostels before, but during my visit on the archipelago we spent a few nights in different hostels and I am becoming a fan of this form of accommodation. It's not only cheap option for having a roof over your head, but first of all it is a great opportunity to meet fantastic people. The owners and wardens of the hostels are usually very nice and chatting with them is a real pleasure. Also, I have never met a single stranger in a hostel who wouldn't be an interesting person worth spending an evening talking with over a glass of whisky.
Lovely hostel, cosy and welcoming! I had a private room with a huge bed, and a shared bathroom that was almost private too Everything was sparkly clean. Location is great, very central + close to the ferry terminal.nWould definitely stay here again if I come back to Stornoway!
