Had a lovely stay here. Room was perfect, lovely view and very quiet. Everything you could need. Great nights sleep. Lovely staff who gave a friendly welcome. Breakfast was great, with pastries, cereals and fruit if you just want a quick bite and a great hot breakfast menu all included. Perfect location, 5 minute walk into town. Our room was ready 30 minutes early and we were able to check in early which was great. Will definitely be back. Would love an option of drinks/food to the room but that’s only a suggestion as we really enjoyed our stay.
The room I stayed in was so cosy I really enjoyed it. It was quite warm so we were very grateful for the Dyson air in the room! Breakfast was great, had a lovely server in the mornings and he was FABULOUS! The evening staff when I arrived weren't super happy to be there but still very polite! Overall a very lovely stay!
The location is obviously stunning but the food was not particularly good. The best dish that night was the fish and chips, nothing to say, that was excellent. I had the chicken which is meant to be their signature dish and thought it was 'ok': too much garlic and a cloying side salad drenched in honey. The staff was not friendly at all, they looked tired. We might be back for drinks in the summer but maybe not for food.
The rooms are lovely. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Food is tremendous. Situated close to the centre but far enough to be away from the noise. Would definitely stay again Rooms: Lovely, comfy bed Walkability: Not far from Oxford centre Food & drinks: Food and drink really good quality
Great value. I’ve stayed at the Bank Hotel as well and prefer The Head of the River. The staff goes above and beyond and the views of the river from the room, unbeatable!
Disappointing first visit. Visited for lunch. Table top menu extremely limited with a tiny QR code in the corner suggesting to 'scan for menu', no idea that there is a much larger menu available digitally. Ordered from the table top menu as we didn't spot the QR code until after ordering. Cottage pie was extremely basic with dry, old mash spooned on top. Served only with some cabbage. Sausage wheel also disappointing. Chips ordered afterwards from QR code were only redeeming feature of the food. Prices far too high given the low quality of food. Priced high to cater to thames tourists. Bar service was okay, nothing stand out. Better water bowls needed for dogs. Not sure why there are silicone travel ones inside. Water over floor and water not clean.
Lovely atmosphere,Friendly Staff and a Really great Pint of Fuller's Ale.We sat outside and watched the world go by.Service: 5/5
Had evening meal. Extensive outdoor seating plus large dining area inside...not always typical of Oxford pubs. Busy but not too long a wait to order and food came out quite quickly. Was not staying in-house so did not rate rooms for thus rradon.Service: 5/5
QR ordering system was down, so we had to order at the bar. We could get a menu for the food, but not for the drinks, so somewhat confusing to learn what was available. Servers were friendly, but at least one was unable to make herself heard over the noise from the crowd. Food was ok and arrived reasonably quick. Nice view of the river and atmosphere we were seated outside
Lovely pub garden by the side of the river. Very quick service without having to fight your way to the bar, due to the QR codes on the tables. Shame it's an extra 25p! for a pint, compared to The Bear Inn, which is the same chain and less than 5 minutes walk away. We managed to get a riverside table by slowing taking any tables closer to the river that came available past 2pm.
