I recently brought the brand new RS3 from Southampton Audi. My experience with this dealership is like no other! The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and I was able to purchase the car to my exact specifications without any compromises.nI would like to personally thank Bradley Coates, for always providing regular updates in regards to how my car was progressing and when it was being built etc. He went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy throughout the whole process and making sure that on delivery day it was a moment to remember.nI would highly recommend this dealership.
Although the initial sales experience was good, be warned that the after-care service I received from Harwoods Audi Southampton has been shocking.nnI purchased an approved-used 70-plate A5 in June 2023 with a 12-month warranty. On taking ownership of the car I noticed two issues, a broken rear air vent and a loud rattling in the drivers door. The rattling was diagnosed as a faulty window regulator, and this and rear vent were replaced under warranty. After this the vent was fine but the window leaked water and air noise and made a terrible squealing sound. On closer inspection I could clearly see the glass had not been realigned correctly. Harwoods tried realigning the glass, which resolved the leaks but not the squealing noise. After further diagnostics they determined the seal would need replacing and would contact me 'in a few days' when it was in stock.nnAnd then everything changed. I heard nothing from them for three weeks, during which time my emails were ignored and calls not returned. Finally someone in the Service department not the same advisor who had been assisting me up to this point contacted me to say it wasn't a warranty issue, and I would need to pay if I wanted it fixed. Seeing as the issue started when they replaced the regulator and didn't realign the glass correctly, I submitted a complaint to Harwoods as-per their complaints procedure, but this was also ignored. It was only when two weeks later, after phoning to request the contact details for the Head of Business, that I very quickly received a call from Service to say they would be happy to replace the seal under warranty and booked the car back in.nnSo I returned again for the seal to be replaced as a waiting appointment. I was there twice as long as they said I would need to be, as they ordered the wrong part and had to place an emergency order with their parts supplier. And when they handed the car back to me they said they weren't sure the problem was fixed. It wasn't.nnBy now it's January 2024. I have made seven round-trips to Harwoods, involving 350 miles of driving and countless hours of my time. At no point has anyone apologised. Emails and calls have gone ignored. They've regaled me multiple times with their internal debates over which department should pay Sales? Service? Corporate?, as if I care. An acknowledgement of the cost ££ and time to me would have been nice. I appreciate a 'squealing window' is somewhat subjective, so for the avoidance of doubt I've included a video so you can see for yourself.nnAt this point I raised a complaint with Audi UK, requesting their support in arranging for another Audi dealer to look at the car, on the basis that I was totally dissatisfied with Harwoods and had no faith in their ability to actually resolve the matter. Audi UK were very apologetic and obliging, and arranged for Marshall Newbury to assist me, who I am pleased to say were able to fix the issue. Upon inspection, they determined that Harwoods had caused the issue when they replaced the regulator, and asked Harwoods to cover the cost, but Harwoods refused. So they instead arranged for Audi UK to cover it. Unlike Harwoods, Marshall acknowledged all the way through that this was not something I should have to pay for. And they also commented to me that they have no idea how Harwoods managed to make such a mess of what should have been a straightforward repair in the first place.nnInitially everything was great and I would have rated Harwoods five-stars. What I don't understand is why they then wanted to wash their hands of this issue. It seems very short-sighted to me, as for the sake of a repair costing a couple of hundred pounds they have lost me as a future customer. Harwoods did temporarily dent my confidence in Audi as a brand, but I am pleased to say Audi UK and Marshall Newbury have fully restored it. And when I'm ready to buy my next car, Marshall have won my custom.
We purchased an Audi Q5 from Zak and the experience has been great from start to finish. The staff at Audi are very professional and helpful. Rich also helped with the finance options and explained everything fully. All round a fantastic experience. Thanks guys!
