Brilliant club for any age!! My son 12 years old attended the mixed class for several years and now attends the senior club. He looks forward to the weekly lessons and is greatly supported to get the best out of the lessons by Sensai Ian and fellow club members they know who they are!!!!. As a proud parent it is great to see him progressing with each belt he achieves. Not just progressing with learning the skills, but also key skills of respect, listening, concentration, supporting others, communication - to name just a few. Highly recommended by parent and child!!!!
This is a very good group for youngsters and adults wanting to learn Karate. Additionally the adult classes which combine Thai Boxing and Practical Self Defence are brilliant for fitness, building self confidence and self awareness. Senior Instructor Ian has been trained by and trained with some very influential and prominent martial artists and the club is part of the British Combat Association, the UK's Foremost Self Defence and Multi-Style Martial Arts Organisation If you want a welcoming, inclusive and motivational training experience, I highly recommend it.
Sensei Ian is a brilliant karate and self defense instructor. My son and me have trained with him for years. I'm always amazed at how much we cover in his classes without missing out on technical detail, it is always very high quality instruction. I have no idea how he manages it. Always look forward to next class.
This club is awesome. I wasn't sure what to expect in the first class but I really enjoyed it. Since then November 2019 I've gone to every class I could Covid-19 permitting. At the moment we have to social distance which admittedly takes getting used to but we are working on more of the technique side of things which will help when we go back to normal. Ian, head of the club, is a legend. If you are not sure on how to do something then he takes the time to give you extra help and shows you how to do it. Then its practice practice practice :D Everyone is friendly. It doesn't matter who you are or how old you are... If you are looking for something different to do rather than the grind of the gym or if you want to learn self defence or mixed martial arts then join up :D You really will not regret it.
We tried a taster session with our daughter, hoping to encourage her to take up self defence classes. Although my daughter decided it was not for her, we thought the instructors did a good job and were very friendly and welcoming. Worth trying a taster session if you’re not sure
After finding this club by completing a random Google search for self protection classes in Basingstoke. I can recommend this club highly to anyone who wants to build their self protection skills, self confidence and fitness. I have been training with Ian since summer 2017 and have thoroughly enjoyed our sessions. They have helped me build confidence, should I be unfortunate enough to find myself in a difficult situation. Giving me the knowledge and confidence to think logically in tuff situations. Being forced into a difficult situation can happen to anyone at anytime. Having the invaluable knowledge and skills taught by the club, would only benefit anyone in enabling them to protect themselves. The classes have even helped my confidence in real life events. An example, I have recently just got a new job and I’m certain the confidence I have built in the short time with the club helped me immensely during the stressful interview process. My only regret is not having started these classes at a younger age. If you're considering starting a martial arts class even as I did at beginner level aged 30. The club will make you feel very welcome and I'm confident you won't regret the decision. Lee
Absolutely not recommend the place maybe I should say the owner, as other members of staff are very nice people, owner all about the money. Making up the rules as comfortable for the situation.
