This post is left as much in frustration as being disappointed with the end product. The main issue to watch for is the fragmented way that a kitchen is designed, delivered, installed and satisfaction sought. Our first kitchen designed by their designer was rejected by the Hammonds surveyor who visited to check the feasibility of the design. The design was amended and product delivered for installation. We then had issues with the kitchen fitter who was not at all cooperative and we decided that a two day planned installation would be reduced by a day and we paid our own builder contact to finish off the job. Hammonds kitchen fitters are self employed contractors and effectively a law unto themselves. The fitter asked us to pay an amount of money direct to him and one to his assistant but he refused to break down how this was arrived at as he thought the Hammonds paperwork excessive. The Hammonds surveyor eventually agreed to check how much we should have been charged and surprise, surprise it was too much! Since that time we have repeatedly chased the fitter, the surveyor and the Hammonds Head Office to obtain a refund. The time taken so far is over a month. The fitter has been in direct contact by email but doesn’t have the cash, the surveyor has been ill and in any event has no control. Head Office are totally silent and I’m not sure they even exist beyond an email address! They certainly lack a complaints procedure! I don’t know if this review site is read by Hammonds hierarchy, but I will eventually follow up with a conclusion to what has now been weeks of frustration with their admin and organisation. The product is pretty decent if a bit pricey, but completely spoiled as an experience by their internal set up.
