One of very few PROPER pubs, serving PROPER CAMRA ales, always with a smile!! You are welcomed just the same, whether you're a local or popping by for the first time!
We loved there. When hitched visit, we have been there. We were very lucky because live music was there. We danced, listed music. Kids were very happy. Good atmosphere.
This pub has been one of, if not the best place to sample a good variety of real ales in top condition in the county for a number of years. It's what many would consider a proper, traditional pub. No themes, no screens, no slot machines or video games just great beer and a simple food choice if you're hungry. This is no gastropub, but what you get is wholesome and tasty.

Was in Hitchin visiting friends. Spent Saturday Evening with a mate in the Half Moon. This ale house was always a nice evening, glad to see it still is. Great ale and relaxed environment.

We popped in on a Sunday lunch time. A few years back it would have been heaving. We were the only ones there! Sign of the times maybe.
Best pub in Hitchin, constantly changing real ales. Tonight for instance, Black Sheep Bitter is on at 3.60 a pint.
