I had a partial knee replacement recently. I have to say I was really well looked after. What a lovely bunch of people, very pleasant and supportive and that means every member of staff, they all had a role to play in my recovery. I cannot thank them enough. The food was very good as well, no complaints there. No one wants to be in hospital but the team on ward 7 made it a positive experience.
I had a full hip replacement on Wednesday this week, rather an uncomfortable experience all round. But the staff in the wards were excellent. I would like to thank them very much for their care and assistant.
Attending MS Nurses clinic for 6 monthly review and to have bloods taken. This is located within the General Outpatients Department within the Out-Patients department in the Hospital. Was attended to by thoroughly professional Nurse Practitioners who specialise in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. This is a new build hospital on the grounds of a pre war health facility that dealt primarily with patients who had Tuberculosis. One famous patient being Eric Blair or George Orwell. It is said he finished writing 1984 whilst a patient in the hospital which is located in East Kilbride just off Eaglesham Road. It has great transport links with a regular bus service by First Bus, which collects passengers from a transport hub in the Railway Station of Hairmyres, serviced by ScotRail. The railway gives great access to Glasgow which is direct to Glasgow Central Station every half hour. Driving to and parking at the hospital is easy with the roads to and from the hospital clear and easy to negotiate. The hospital is located close to the Glasgow Southern Orbital road which gives easy access to Glasgow city centre in 15 mins depending on traffic volume and times of day.. There are free parking places for patients and visitors alike in front of the hospital, good luck finding one! It is very busy. Sometimes I have been dropped off for appointments and have been seen and back outside waiting on My lift home before he has even found a parking place. Busiest times are between 10am and 4pm and at visiting times. This hospital used to have all day visiting, but CoVid restrictions saw an end to that but it is slowly being reintroduced in certain areas and wards. Always ask the staff on the wards as often wards have their own visiting times.
My husband attended the audiology department this morning. I can't praise Kelly enough for the help and advice she gave him. She was professional, pleasant and cheerful.
From my first visit to GP at Mavor medical practice to overnight stay in ward 4 Hairmyres with treatment, tests & diagnosis I'm impressed & grateful for the first class care from orderlies, porters, nursing & medical staff. Thank you
Couldn’t get near my GP today and was told by the GP receptionist to call NHS24. They advised me to go to A&E Hairmyres. The place was mobbed and the wait was long heard a lot of similar stories while I waited of people being directed there by GP for minor stuff. Despite how manic it was the reception staff were lovely, other staff were offering drinks of water and when I was taken to minor injuries they could not have been any more pleasant or thorough. The charge nurse on today was particularly lovely. She made me feel very comfortable as I felt my injury wasn’t bad enough to be clogging up their time but I didn’t know what else to do and she was very friendly and chatty while she was helping me. The doc and medical student were really nice too. To all be like that in the midst of chaos says a lot about them. Thank you.
Excellent service given to me in a very busy environment. In A&E. The Doctors and Nurses were extremely kind and kept me informed what was going on. Well done NHS!
This is the WORST hospital I have been in my life , my son got a big wound with exposed flesh need urgently stitches, they just pass a cream, and keep my son for. nearly 6 hours at reception area emergency , with others sufferers patients, definitely is a tremendous catastrophe in East Kilbride, coz the staffs really don’t about anyone, tax payers by the way , just leave here my disapproval. My Mother was admitted for a week & have to say the best hospital staff I have ever seen, all the doctors & nurses were so helpful, God bless them!
The reason for one star as it took me 5 phone calls to get any information. If I got the information on the first call another 4 calls could have been answered. Really needs to be looked at. It was calls being hung up on or dropping off
