Wow! Ever since visiting the UK for the first time locals kept telling me how they would get their weekly curry and how good it is. Let me tell you; they were right. Indian food is by far the best I have ever eaten and I tried loads of kitchens, from South America to Europe and Asia. This restaurant is no different and an absolute blessing for your stomach!
Nice Indian restaurant! The staff was really friendly. We just walked in and had a table. A bit lucky because within 15 minutes the restaurant was packed. The main courses where great and had a perfect balance in spiciness. Don't forget to order their naan bread, super tasty!
I was pretty surprised with this restaurant. Whenever I go to an Indian place, I order the same food evrrytime, because I don't like spicey food and it's always nice to try the same dish in different restaurant and see what makes the food taste different In this heatwave , I'm not really hungry but coming to this restaurant I was a bit peakish. My friend and I ended up ordering the same thing They had the best mango chutney ever, it taste sweeter than the normal we've we get: Butter chicken with plain rice and some galic naan for our main Butter chicken is not spicey, however this one had a tang of spiceyness. It's not to hot that it burns in your mouth but enough spicey to play with your senses. I was intrigued and loved it . This is definitely worth exploring and im looking forward to come back again.
A lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere with good quality authentic Indian food in the heart of Borough High street. We ordered a variety of dishes ranging from lamb biriani to lamb rogan josh, paneer dishes and mixed grill. All of the lamb was tender and melted in the mouth, but lacked depth of flavour. The biriani was fragrant and fresh, whilst the other lamb curries were rich, authentic and bursting with flavour. The mixed grill meats were tender and the salmon was cooked to perfection, although the marinades lacked depth of flavour. The paneer tasted superb alongside the sauce. The poppadoms were extremely large and the accompaniments were tasty, especially the Indian spiced Yoghurt. The naans were a little disappointing, as they could have been more charred and puffy. Overall, we had a lovely evening in a warm atmosphere with a good range of authentic Indian food.
Having visited Indian Gourmet, the food is always incredible and delicious. Raj and the team are super accommodating and attentive. One of my favourite Indian places in London!
Let me start off by saying that I know the owner will feel the need to answer and justify himself, but keep in mind that I'm just trying to objectively describe my experience at his restaurant. There's no malice behind this review. Let me start from the good: - The food: spectacular Indian food. Especially the pistachio lamb is highly recommended. Now to the bad: - Cleanliness: as soon as we were seated at our table, I noticed the wall on our side being very dirty from food. I suggest cleaning the walls as well as you do clean the tables and seats. - The service: I'll be real, I'm still weirded out by how we were treated. I notice a few other comments about rude staff and I must admit I think exactly which server they refer to. I'll try to describe what we had to deal with in detail so that other clients will know what to be weary of. Firstly, the east Asian looking server was very very sweet and friendly, so this is not about him. We had a bad experience with a middle aged server that looked like he's the manager. As soon as we entered and said we don't have a booking, he made a face at us and immediately made us feel uncomfortable and unwanted. I still have no idea why, as the restaurant half emptied five minutes after we were sat. After that we were given the drinks menu, which we are always very happy about as in our country we are never offered mocktails with dinner. We were told nothing about the bar being closed on Sundays. Which lead to an uncomfortable confrontation when this server asked us about drinks. He said and I quote:"I'll check, but I don't think we can do that today" He NEVER checked and just came back five minutes later expecting us to have chosen something else to drink. Why was the drink menu even given to us? Why didn't they say the bar was closed? Why was he so annoyed at us, making us feel even more awkward and uncomfortable? Then, he asked us about starters. I believe. I still have no idea. BECAUSE I DON'T SPEAK FLUENT ENGLISH AND HE HAS AN ACCENT. I just looked at him confused when he asked me a question and instead of repeating he made a face and said he will be back later. Then, when we actually did order, he asked me if I can handle spicy food. I tried to joke around saying yes but not too too spicy but he again just made a face of annoyance. The food was great, not too spicy for my taste buds at all. Honestly the whole experience was just uncomfortable. He wasn't outright mean or anything, but didn't make us feel welcome at all. Which is why I'm giving three stars. Was it prejudice? Hate of tourists? A long day? The lack of a booking? Who knows what annoyed him! But whatever it was, it made our experience at the restaurant not a positive one.
My husband and I visited this amazing restaurant recently. We loved the food. It is authentic and delicious. Friendly and professional staff. We were in the mood to have some traditional Indian food and the staff helped us in choosing the dishes accordingly. We ordered aloo tikki Chaat, mutton seekh kebab, saag chicken, mutton gosht with roti and ended our meal with scrumptious rasmalai. Would love to come back :
We got the chicken Jalfrezi and the Lal Maas, with Pulau rice. Let me say it was my first time trying out an Indian meal. Guess I didn't know what I was missing out on. I loved how tasty the food was and very spicy. You can taste the herbs and spices . Definitely worth it. I'm open to trying different meals. So I will be going back soon . Customer service was excellent, the young lady who attended to us. 5 star .
Nice little indian restaurant. The dishes were well seasoned, and the free orange chocolate at the end was a nice touch. The meat itself was maybe a bit dry. Garlic naan was amazing!
The best Indian food in London by a mile. Lovely service. Each dish has its own completely unique flavour profile - these dishes are made to taste as they are traditionally supposed to taste. No bulk base being added to each curry so that they all somehow taste the same. We ordered starters and two curry's along with a biriyani full of lamb throughout. Rolled home after that but it was worth it. Without question the only Indian we'll be eating and will be recommending it to everyone.
