Run down sad looking former hotel now only a pub not well maintained by current owner. Great potential though if it could be renovated to its former glory. Charles Dickens is reputed to have stayed here! Needs a new owner with some money to invest. Would make a fab Wetherspoons !
A nice quiet old-fashioned pub. It has recently made a big increase in the prices, making it the most expensive pub in town. No food used to do toasted sandwiches, but stopped now.
Excellent listed building Charles Dickens once stated there 19th Century ambience as they insist on cash and mobiles tablets, laptops etc are banned. A blast from the past.
The staff are really friendly here the downfall of this establishment is its outdated no electronic devices are allowed inside only accepts cash no cards and no music or TV. Not suitable for a younger clientele could use some form of entertainment inside.
Played killer pool 2 games bar staff very friendly a good welcome to the Lion
Whole range of drinks from a small brewery.
Great pint of Taddy
