Fantastic, ethically sourced fish and home cut chips with sensibly sized portions to avoid waste. Homemade sausages also served. Can be very busy so worth phoning ahead or leaving extra time for takeaway. Restaurant service is excellent but needs booking at popular times. Multiple award winning food. Highly recommended.

Crispy, fluffy batter and crispy but absorbant chips. The medium haddock was big for a medium, the homemade tartar sauce was great, and the staff were friendly. Reasonable prices for the portion size and quality. It's a shame there's no outdoor seating, as there aren't many windows that open in what looks like a listed building. Wasnt able to leave a tip paying by card so had to leave change on the table.

I've only been here once, and I'll probably not return - but that's because I don't normally spend time in this area. If I do come back to this area though, I will be sure to pay another visit. My wife is usually very critical about chips, those from Godfrey's were deemed the best she has had for years. The shop is very clean and well presented, the staff polite and friendly. Disabled access is probably difficult but we didn't test that as we got takeaway.

Fabulous freshly cooked fish and chips, friendly helpful staff and a good choice of local beers. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous food. Staff, especially the owners friendly, kind and accomodating. Its not many establishments that would let you sit talking even after they had closed and then let you order ice cream to takeaway at 11pm. The only complaint, chairs not very comfortable, but then we did stay over 3 hrs 🙂
