It’s got that rush-hour squeeze, but outside peak times, you can really take in its beauty—the immense, glass-vaulted roof and the sheer scale of it all. The ticket machine lines are real, so the app is definitely your friend.nI have only note is that in winter, the sheer size and drafty platform ends make for a chilly wait. But grab a hot drink, look up, and you'll remember you're standing in one of Britain’s truly majestic stations. An architectural icon that just works, if you’re prepared.
Now one of my top stations, not only is the architecture beautiful , the passenger assist was absolutely fantastic. As a wheelchair user, travelling alone often, this made my travels so much easier and enjoyable. Thanks to all the fab staff!
Managed to book on the tour of cental Station today. Our guide today was Sinead. She was amazingly informative and took us through the history of the building, its structure and everything else in-between. If you can get on one of these tour I would thoroughly recommend it.
Glasgow Central Station is the city’s main railway hub and one of the busiest stations in Scotland. Opened in 1879, it features impressive Victorian architecture with a grand iron-and-glass roof that gives the station a bright and airy feel.nnIt serves as a key gateway for trains traveling across Scotland and to England, making it an essential spot for both commuters and tourists. The station also has a variety of shops, cafes, and services, making it convenient for travelers. Even if you’re just passing through, the historic charm and bustling atmosphere make it worth a look.
A fantastic and iconic station in the heart of the city.nIt is spacious, well organised, and offers great facilities including shops, cafés, and clear signage. Trains are frequent and well connected to destinations across Scotland and beyond. Always a smooth and efficient experience.
