We stopped for food as we couldn't get a table at our stop over. I contacted them late the day before and we're more than happy to accommodate us. Upon arrival the outside was a little underwhelming, the car park was lit and had ample space. On entering we walked into the bar and were shown to our table, at that time we had the restaurant to ourselves. The waiting ladies were attentive and took our order quickly, the menu was varied and sounded great. The George burger and steak and ale pie were tasty and would recommend without hesitation, the burger was a little pink for me so I did leave some. Dessert cake in the shape of chocolate brownie and lemon cheesecake, again both fresh and moorish.
Very friendly greeting on arrival restaurant very clean and modern .They have a varied a menu to suit all taste.I went for the Whitebait for starters followed by Steak pie ,my fellow diner's had linguini and a very tasty looking burger all were very good portions. Definitely deserves another visit when in the area.
Visited whilst staying in the village for a few days - what a great place Zara and Ben have! Such a lovely atmosphere and the locals were as friendly as could be. On the Saturday night I had a Fantastic Steak and the Mrs had a perfectly cooked couple of Sea Bass fillets. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. Very reasonably priced and large portions too. It was so good that we booked in again the next day for a Sunday Lunch, needless to say we were not disappointed... Top notch again! Would definitely recommend a visit to the The George. Thank you, we will be back. Ian & Nina
Would give 4.5 stars if it were possible. Went for a family evening meal recently and fair to say was very surprised at how good the food was, and incredible value. 3 real ales too inc a fab stout. I had a halibut main which was delicious and under £20. Will definitely be going again!
Amazing food at this lovely pub. Some of the best pub grub I have had in a while! Atmosphere is good, premises are well decorated and very clean. Love that they allow dogs in the bar side.
Went here tonight for a family celebration and was not disappointed. The ambience was super, the layout was warm and inviting, the waitress and front of house colleagues were lovely and the food was superb. Definitely recommend this pub. Good parking facilities too. Thank you
This review is split into two parts. Firstly the good bits. Nice venue, good selection of beers. Waiting and bar staff were lovely and very polite and attentive we left them a good tip. Food was excellent, well presented and reasonably priced. We spent £130. If there was nothing else to add I would be giving this review five stars. Now the bad bit.....the pub manager Sara. We had read about how some people had experienced rudeness and aggressiveness from a member of staff......We arrived early to have a drink in the bar. The bar area was two thirds full so there was plenty of room. The bar staff were happy to serve us and we had found a place to sit. However it became very clear the manager wanted us out of the bar and into the restaurant. Why, we still don't know because it remained two thirds full all evening. She instructed the bar staff to send our drinks through to the restaurant and "instructed" us to go through too despite our protestations. She was abrupt, aggressive and very rude. We were not and tried to reason with her. We are in our late 50's early 60's but felt treated like 10 year olds. Throughout the evening we saw her treat her staff in the same way and we felt sorry for them. We won't be going again.
Amazing food, 17 different meals, all perfectly presented and cooked to perfection. Very good value for money, something for everyone. Staff are all lovely too, nothing too much trouble.
We have eaten here on numerous occasions, together, with friends or large family occasions. The food is excellent, good quality and very tasty. Staff are always polite, accomodating and always ensure that they provide good service to you.
Visited on Saturday evening. It was very busy with a couple of larger bookings, but the food and service were impeccable. Thanks for a great evening
