It was great, good value and staff friendly. I almost didn't go based on previous reviews but am glad I did. Big menu, had the mixed grill as pictured. There's 2 big sausages hiding under the egg with pork, steak and chicken, all for 11 quid!
Went to the Bull on Friday lunchtime. I had the mixed grill which was absolutely brilliant. Loads of different meat all cooked to perfection and very well presented. Couldn't fault it one bit . My wife had the mince and onion pie , which again was cooked to perfection and a very good sized portion full of meat and not a lot of pastry. Would definitely go there again
Lunch with friends. A nice place, staff very pleasant, pub clean and welcoming. Advised of limited availability on a couple of menu items so very helpful when choosing. We all enjoyed the food but unfortunately my lasagne wasn't hot enough, literally stone cold before I finished my meal. I really should have asked for it to be "zapped". Two of my friends had chicken which was a bit dry but OK when sauce added, but the curry and the pie were very nice indeed. Would definitely go again though....good value for money.
Really good day time menu today with some reasonably priced meals. I had the Bull mixed grill. Good portion size. Well presented. Service good. Good pub food!
Sunday lunchtime carvery is very good value. I had a small plate which was very good for me as can only eat a small amount. My partner can eat more so he had a medium sized plate.
Didn't eat here so cannot comment on food. Place is desperately in need of updating. Toilets themselves were clean, but the cubicles & surrounding areas were disgusting! V dirty. Be careful using the hand dryer, if someone comes through the door they could bash you with it.
In the main,we had a fairly good experience. My mixed grill was very nice and excellent value for money. We had four in our party and three of the meals were very good. The fourth meal a lasagne was not the best. Two of us had puddings that were ok but small portions. Drink prices were in line with most pubs that provide food and most do now. This kind of pub ,although the food was probably better will be in in direct competition with the Weatherspoons of this world and sadly will not win. The three stars given should be four but came closer to two due to the toilets. Any food establishment must realise that the first point of call for perfection is the toilet areas.
Terrible pub. Dry, horrible food. Chavvy owners, not nice clientele. This pub used to be good. What happened! Just seen they have a food rating of 2. Avoid people. The Homestead just around the corner is so much better.
Best steak and ale pie. Plus potatoes and 3 veg. Liked having a full gravy boat each. Totally full - needed to use doggy bag. Only lost a star as took a while to arrive due to other pre- bookings.
Loved it... Great value, great food, really friendly staff.
