Service was quite poor. We arrived 1hr before closing time and ordered coffee and some pastries. Despite telling them we wanted to sit in they served us in takeaway cups. They also forgot the pastries and did not clean the table, despite telling us they would, until they saw us cleaning it ourselves.nnThis is far below the usual level of service for Gail's.
I get sick again. 17/08/2025 The spinach and feta cheese roll and the orange shot was not good. The oranges, I can understand sometimes can be sweet or sour but this? Was unacceptable! I literally almost vomit after drinking it! The taste was worst than just sour! And I don’t know why every time I try to enjoy the roll I get sick. Toilet is my witness. I know taste is good but something on it is not.
Very busy since they are after all the best coffee place in London.nPoints to improve - spilled coffee can get your loyal customers dirty. Better to serve a clean onenThe new vegan sandwich- taste is a bit neutral.
Great bakery with variety of sweet and savoury options. Shared the cheese & chive scone, a goats cheese quiche and a soufflé egg, cheddar and spinach slider. The café has a pleasant interior and it was self-service. The food we had was really lovely and reasonably priced.nnThe 3 stars is due to the mix up in our hot chocolate order got given a mocha instead and we were not given any cutlery with our food - had to ask for this and was given a plastic set even though we were sitting in which isn’t very environmentally friendly. The toilet was also not up to standard in terms of cleanliness at the time of visit and perhaps needs to be tended to more regularly during opening hours
Absolutely delicious pastries and bread -- I cannot fault the quality of the food. The coffees are decent as well. Unfortunately, service is achingly slow, and the atmosphere is sub-par. The chairs are uncomfortable, the seating cramped. The Islington branch has a much nicer layout.nnIn short, if you have time to wait for your order and you want food for takeaway I would strongly recommend. But if you're in a rush or want a nice place to sit, I'd go elsewhere.
