Story

The Fountains Abbey opened in 1824 and has been a popular meeting house from the early days.
Sir Alexander Flemming was a loyal regular to The Fountains Abbey. Legend says that it was mould spores from this ale house which blew through Fleming's window, leading him to the discovery of Penicillin in 1928.
The Fountains Abbey derived its name from two different sources, "Fountains" marks nearby sites of early known springs and wells which were of great importance to inhabitants, "Abbey" stems from Westminster Abbey which possessed the manor of Paddington during Saxon times hence the name Fountains Abbey.

Great Pub, wonderful experience upon my visit! Can't wait for it to reopen!
Amazing selection of alcohol, incredibly friendly staff.. especially the manager Sheila. The food is very tasty, I really enjoyed the Chicken Katsu Burger. The atmosphere in the pub was really pumping, I had such a good time in there the other night.

Good social distancing management and quick service. Good selection of ales and craft beers. Still serving the Greene King menu
In lock down they were amazing and safe, great pint and friendly staff.
Went there for lunch. The pie was “ok”. There was a bit of grizzle in there and the plate serving was fairly small. I would give it 3 star for taste and quality. Beer and atmosphere was very good.
Nice pub, Great service, a young girlcan't remember her name really looked after me too!
