The Green Man

About

Traditional city drinking and home to Burger Craft.

Story

Robert Smith of The Cure used to drink here and if it’s good enough for him, then we think you’ll like it too.

This is traditional city drinking at its best. The Green Man is a city bar mixing traditional pub style in a modern environment. We are also the home of the very first Burger Craft burger kitchen, open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

great ambience for a sports pub, went to watch the world cup match on Friday afternoon and the place was packed with people supporting both sides. wrote a special request for a good view of the screen and they reserved a table right in front of the screen so could enjoy the game very much! but I recommend ordering just the drinks not food..
Great venue to watch football match, darts or similar. They got different big screens. The staff was nice. But over it, the mushrooms missed the dip, asked to the bat and got it after ask to the bar. "Big double" Burger came without onion rings, didn't bother to ask about it.
We stopped here before going to watch a Panto. The pub is 5 min walk from the Oxford Street station, so it’s the perfect location. 2adults, 2kids. We came at 5pm & managed to find a table, but it got busy very quickly. Food was served quickly, tasted really nice. There’s no kids menu btw. Toilets are downstairs. Nice atmosphere, plenty of sport, staff was lovely as well.
2nd visit. Ordered the rump steak - delicious, cooked to perfection. Top marks. Had classic cheese & bacon burger and chips, with a pint - great value, just over a £10er. Patty really nicely cooked, juicy and delicious, ketchup, mayo & vinegar on every table. Huge flat screens with sports playing. Super comfortable chairs all around. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, wide selection of drinks on tap.
Great little boozer if you not worried about decor. Cheap drinks and good atmosphere. Plenty of TVs to watch sports and the staff were very pleasant. Glasses are cleared away efficiently and tables wiped down after each visitor. Nice touch. Freshly made cocktails too.
Been popping in here while shopping for our lunches for a long time normally give 5 stars but today very disappointed my partner had gammon egg chips with pineapple couldn't even makeout what the egg was. I had smothered chicken with chips & tomatoe the food was miserable to say the least portions very small won't go back maybe they have a new chef...
Green Man, 7.7/10 I’d been on a heavy one the night before. Couldn’t remember much. Still felt a bit out of it. Slightly delirious. Needed the only sure-fire cure known to drinkers. Hair of the dog. This boozers located in Fitzrovia. Decent gaff. Spoonsey vibe. Like spoons but they have the footy on. Was rammed at midday on a Saturday. Went up to the bar for a Stella. Could see the barman recognised me. He must be a devout NLP follower. I asked him why the place was called Green Man. He pointed to a fruit machine behind me. It was being played by a man wearing nothing but a flat cap, covered from head to toe in green paint. Apparently this man has been playing the fruity round here longer than anyone can remember. Landlords of old gave up trying to remove him from the premises and even named the place after him. I necked my Stella and went to approach the green man and find out his story. As I turned the corner and arrived at the fruity, he’d vanished. Hmm. As I went to go sit back down, I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror. I was naked, covered in green paint and wearing a flat cap. Uh oh. Turns out the heavy one I’d had the night before had been at this very boozer. And I was still here. I’d gotten absolutely slamborghinied. The police would later tell me it was a gang of opportunist South Londoners that handcuffed me to the fruity. And nicked all my clobber. And covered me in green paint. But more importantly, I've just landed 3 golden eggs and I'm up the beanstalk. About to bleed this fruity like a radiator. Pretty cool british pub with excellent beers and super tasty burgers.
Unfortunately I had to give one star. We ordered food which was meant to come with coleslaw but arrived without. When questioned the lady said it was inside our food in which it wasn’t. When we asked for coleslaw they got us a bowl of dry mix salad. The lady who served us was very rude with no apologies either. As for the rest room I have to say the worst I’ve been to, not clean in the slightest. Would not recommend and definitely will not be going back with the service provided!
Really enjoyed it in here for the Marseille v Spurs game. Great atmosphere. Fans from both teams. Decent tvs, good sound and a sensible split between the Spurs and Liverpool games down the middle of the pub. Good beer too. Recommend.
