I came for a Sunday proper Irish/traditional breakfast, and it was delicious, super cheap and extremely satisfying. They offered white or brown toast, so I took the latter, and it was great bread. The joint was nearly empty and quiet, with most Saturday night revelers still recovering. Perfect! I wanted to go there again this morning, but it was closed for breakfast due to kitchen issues. We reluctantly went around the corner to another pub, The Welkin, which was more modern but without character, and leagues lower in quality, thus extremely unsatisfying, like I imagine prison food, or slightly better. I came back for lunch, served by manager Collette, and enjoyed a delicious fish and chips prepared by Bianca. Yum! Collette, upon hearing of my Beatles pilgrimage, kindly brought me to the closed at lunchtime upstairs to show me q photo of Paul McCartney walking past the property before it was Flanagan's. The pub is now here for 40 years. Flanagan's I shall remember fondly, and heartily recommend as breakfast spot.
Fabulous food for both breakfast and evening meal, large portions and not expensive either, cooked by chef’s Sean and Elliott. Very friendly and efficient front off house staff Anne and Colette, who remember us each time we visit. See you again the next time we are over Recommended dishesPizza, Fish and Chips, English Breakfast
On Matthew street doors wide open very welcoming inside very spacious tables plus nice seating areas I only found this out but they have two floors or maybe 3 so if main floor gets packed there’s a bar below where the toilets are so this is very handy I believe they serve food also from my first visit two ways in n out toilets easy access the place looked very clean the bar staff very friendly n welcoming yes the place was very cosy I can see this being a very popular place to be on a night also during the day the options are very open if you’re just passing through or fancy a chilled out bite to eat then go on give this place a go .
So different from the very Irish pub I remember from the early 1990s - Cream of the Barley and others playing downstairs. On this Friday night the live music pampered to universal tourist tastes - a bit weird if I'm honest - not even just Beatles but ABBA, Alanis Morissette, Kings of Leon, Ah well it was an eclectic mix of people, ages - more like Vegas! Fun in the end I guess
Went here for the first time ordering Guinness and steak pie with mash and peas which was spot on , staff were nice , service was good , good atmosphere and crowd in , would go againFood: 4/5
We have been many times drinking at night but today was first time we went for food and with our child. We went there this morning for breakfast with our son. Huge portions, gorgeous food, lovely professional service, bargain price and most importantly family friendly. We felt totally at ease with our son and would definitely recommend to anyone with kids. We will be returning for food again.
I was here for watching Poland and Netherlands and had breakfast and a few beers the breakfast was really lovely and the beers were cold with reasonable prices and great service from Anne. Cheers dave & Sean for the runny eggs!Food: 5/5
Food and a couple of drinks at lunch. Ann who served us was very friendly and went out of her way to help. Irish breakfast was amazing. It was a Saturday afternoon so Liverpool match being shown on tv. Nice footy crowd in watchFood: 4/5
Anne and Colette were very welcoming and friendly from arrival and throughout our visit. Visiting Liverpool for just a couple days, came for dinner last night and if we return to Liverpool we absolutely will be coming back! Food, service and atmosphere 10/10!!!! Breakfast today by Elliot was top tier
Very tasty Guinness and all the pub food. Quite good prices. More quiet than the average pub in the area which I found nice - other are too loud with live music. Went to Flannagan's twice. I had pie and fish in both ocations. Chips are just fine, but the food is tasty.
