I'm visiting for a few days...Very nice staff and there is good equipment to work all body parts. The equipment is a bit dated which didn't bother me but it's very clean and well maintained. Highly recommended.
I’ve must’ve visited over 50 gyms, some of them in god forsaken parts of the world - this is one of the worst. Almost all of the equipment is in dire need of maintenance. Some of it straight up just doesn’t work. You cant see what height/weight is on the cable machines because of how worn it is, and the height adjustment mechanisms themselves are all half broken. The showers are cold and automatically turn off after literally 3 seconds… There is NO water tap. The only reason it gets 2 stars and not 1 is because it’s one of the few gyms in the area to have a boxing section, and it doesn’t seem to get very busy before work. But seriously, for £35 a month it’s disgusting how poor this place is. Go to The Gym or Puregym nearby instead. Gutted I wasted my money on this place.
Have been going here for years. No, it is not a high-end fancy gym. Some of the equipment is old. But the range is excellent. They've finally put some new machines in too, which is great to see. For the money, I'm not sure it could be better other than a water dispenser.
Pro: nice open space and have a variety of activities. clean. Con: No drinking water. you need to bring water with you for your workout which is inconvenient. - Weights machines are old and definitely needs to be replaced. - Weights dumbbells are different brands and colours also the Weights dumbbells holder has no numbers to indicate where you have to place the weight back so you will see loads of weights on the floor or 10kg next to 35kg - Weights bars have many wear and tear. The rubber for most of them are gone.
I love this place. I've been coming here for years, since it first opened. It's a large gym, with a huge variety of equipment and weights. Maybe nine separate areas depending on what you're wanting to do. Plus a large studio room for classes. It's a marked constrast from the typical high-end gyms which you pay much more for. Where you get the whole swimming / sauna experience, fresh towels etc. But their actual gyms are never nearly as good as this one is. Over the years they keep making gradual improvements in the types of equipment and layout, until it's now in an optimum state for all tastes. It's cheap, very large, laid back, friendly. It's got a lot of choices, accommodating almost any kind of exercise. Except swimming. There's no water dispenser, so bring your own.
Gym is ok overall but far from great. Main plus of this gym is its size and free weight section which is mostly sufficient. The problems are numerous though, some of the equipment looks ancient, could well be 30+ years old, then there is no water dispenser in the whole gym, which seems mind-boggling to me, they do not have enough weight plates which can make lifting heavy a chore, their homepage has incorrect opening times for the period between Christmas and nye, gym etiquette is not enforced by any of the trainers so most people do not care about bringing weights back, veryyy slow wifi and the men's changing rooms has basically no mirrors except at the entrance.
As a regular member I would definitely recommend this gym! 5 stars….great gym. Staff friendly and accessible, willing to give tips and advice when asked. Welcoming atmosphere. I have never felt intimidated as a woman, even in the weight area. Always see the cleaner working really hard to keep equipment/changing rooms clean and tidy, there is also plenty of spray and tissue to wipe equipment if required.
Poor customer orientation from my personal experience. I had originally singed up for a "mini membership" in Cambridge Heath for 35,- GBP. Out of a personal emergency I had to change my stay and was since located more near to Southwark. I entered the Gym at ~21:15 45 min before close and was not aware that the membership is restricted to a specific branch only. Not that I would make this mistake twice but that the staff refused to let me train just one time and make an exception my vacation ends the next day so I cant go neither tomorrow in Cambridge Heath. From my perspective I would say an unsatisfied customer and feedback causes more potential damage then to just let a guy workout for 45 min in another gym of the same chain he paid for... not that it was overcrowded neither. I call that nothing short but poor customer service. PS: Nothing like that can be said about the staff in Cambridge Heath, they were very supportive and friendly!!
Great bare bones gym in a beautiful converted train trestle. Really good value for money too, especially if you sign on with one of the many promotional rates throughout the year. It's never so busy you can't find a spot and the space and equipment are plentiful. It's always clean and well ventilated and the changing rooms are well kept. Only drawback is no pool/sauna facilities but perfect for a quick lift-n-dash.
Nice gym atmosphere.friendly people may equipment.no cue jump in.
