A perfect country inn in a picturesque Cotswold village. We stayed one night for a family gathering in the pub, Sunday lunch through to Monday lunch, 6 of us. Lovely welcome, charming traditional bar, good selection of well kept beers. The food was all excellent, good variety including vegetarian options, beautifully presented and all very tasty. The rooms are very impressive, varying sizes but all well appointed and charming. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. All very good value. We shall return. Highly recommended.
Not been here for years but it didn't disappoint. If you want old english charm. the pub itself is beautiful and quaint. The staff were absolutely lovely which is always a good start. Each one of us thought the food was the best we had had for a long while and the puddings were to die for. Had a lovely evening and a wonderful meal, we will be back.
Excellent lunch-time service despite the pub being pretty much full. Genuine welcome, and the beer of which there were several choices on pump was pretty much on form as well. Heaven. It was just before Christmas and I think I could hear the Angels singing !! Probably making their way here........................
The pub looks amazing from the outside and the inside is typical of a traditional pub. Unfortunately it appears to be completely let down by the brewery. We were told the new menu had been introduced that day and none of the ingredients had been sent..... in practice that meant 50% of the menu was unavailable. I wish we'd been told when we arrived so we could have gone elsewhere, but we only found out after we'd been left waiting ages as 'we only have 1 chef Monday - Thursday' and he's so busy we cant take too many orders!. The food we has was good, but it was our 3rd choice. My daughter had plain pasta as everything she wanted wasn't available. When I asked, I was given a discount, but it didn't make up for an underwhelming experience. We wont be going back.
Great position and building. Food was good as were the drinks. Only food complaint was that we ordered cheese and it came with half a slice of white supermarket bread as well as some crackers - could have done with a few grapes or apple for £10. Some aspects of the stay seemed to lack finesse and hence would have been a 5* with that. Some training at front of house could be a good idea. The lady with the quiet voice was the friendliest.
A wonderful setting in every sense. Polite and charming staff, who served tasty and piping hot food. Extensive choice of, cocktails, wines and beers. But: The room was cold when we took our seats at 12:30 and our food was served without a reasonable gap between the starter and main. Thank you for a lovely lunchtime experience.
Great service and delicious food. Very quirky decor and wonderful cosy atmosphere. We had a fab time and an extra bonus that they were dog friendly so our mutt was welcome. We will definitely come back again!Service: 5/5
Delightful 16th Century Inn which has retained many of its original features, including the cosy bar with the many jugs and tankards hanging from the ceiling and the open fire. The rooms are small but well furnished with clever design to incorporate full on suite facilities. Bar food is extensive, with a good selection of Pub grub, together with a good choice of ales on tap. Breakfast offers quality food too, although our only 'gripe' was having to ask for orange juice, milk for cereals and bread for toast. Other than that the staff are great and made it a great stay in a lovely village.
Beautiful location and made to feel welcome. Wonderful meals and all presented well and together. Well satisfied hungry northerners. All meals enjoyed. Friendly and helpful staff. Will be back when next in area.
Beautiful looking pub, nice food with generous portions and friendly, efficient staff. We had the roasts and extremely happy with our choices… the nut roast was great.
