Good food amazing views staff very friendly just had all you can eat breakfast including coffee for £6.95 brilliant will return
Went for lunch with my family. We used to go here all the time years ago. This place has gone down hill in past few years. Looks tired and dated. Needs a bit of TLC. Food was ok, nothing special. Doubt I'll be rushing back any time soon
This place me and the family have been coming to on and off, there's something that keeps bringing us back but unfortunately it isnt always the food or the service but that's in the past and since the new take over and the new spring to life with a new breakfast menu and the carvery being brought back to life there isn't a bad thing to say about the place, there's a nice updated park for the kids to play and the veiw from the car park on a sunny day is unbelievable.
10/10 we called in for breakfast and wasn't disappointed have a great choice we will be back
Been going here for last 3 or so years and probably 5 times in total. Last visit was between Xmas and New Year. The staff are mostly friendly but could work on their customer service a little better. The chef is probably the most approachable person! The carvery is always lovely - good portions at a good price. The menu is varied for kids and adults and again, good price. My biggest disappointment with the last visit was that one of the kids chips portions were clearly re-heated. I told the waitress and she said they were re-cooked to give them the chippy taste. I laughed - she didn't and walked away. The tip I normally leave didn't make it out my pocket on this occasion. Still annoyed by this so may leave it until the summer until I go back - but we will go again as it was hopefully a one off and the outdoor park and hillside views are great in the summer and there's plenty of parking.
Had a lovely meal here with my wife midweek. I had fajitas and my wife had scampi, and we both thought it was lovely. The guy serving obviously ex military was extremely polite and welcoming and and even the owner had a little chat to be sure we enjoyed ourselves. We had a bad experience here previously but had heard it was under new management and we are glad we did. Will be back very soon to try some of the other menu delights.
Had the buffet breakfast - really nice with lots of choice. Decent price - £6.95 - will definitely return and will take the family and try the evening menus. My only grumble would be the coffee wasn't hot enough from the coffee urn... by the time I added my milk it was warm at best! Definitely worth a try!
Lovely from the outside, and although looking a tad tired on the inside, furnishings still comfortable I believe it'll shortly be refurbished?. We had the carvery as it was full for a sit down Sunday Lunch, 4 meats to have or choose from and plenty of vegetables on offer, gravy was lovely! Worth every penny of a mere £6.95..... will definitely go again.
Since the new owners have taken over they've given this place a new lease of life.. More choice especially the veg section when your having carvery. And the staff are more than approachable. Looking forward to test the new breakfast menu
I was in my heavily pregnant scruffs leggings, t-shirt and fitflops and had my 2 year old with me when I collected my hubby from work. He was late because of the trains and we were all pretty shattered. We had the most lovely welcome, we're seated straight away and the menu was just a little different to regular pub grub. The children's menu was the best because it wasn't the typical nuggets/sausage/fish fingers and chips which she wouldn't eat, she doesn't like convenience food. There were home made variants of those but also things like macaroni cheese which she loved. They even made up a drink for her in her own little drinking bottle! The food was lovely and very reasonably priced. The setting is beautiful and as well as a large car park and children's play area, you can just sit outside and enjoy the view of the hills and the horses grazing in the fields. I cook everything from scratch at home and am quite picky when it comes to eating out. I've been known to go nose-to-nose with people who claim to be chefs but serve pathetic food so I'm not easily impressed. I expected basic pub grub and given the circumstances that evening, that would have been fine. It was a pleasant surprise to have the slightly different menu and for the food to be so lovely. I still can't believe how well we were treated too considering that after 7pm, you are more likely to see the customers dressed for dinner the rest were but we were made to feel so comfortable and treated so well that we'll definitely be returning in better circumstances!
