The classes here are brilliant! I did the beginners sewing part 1 and 2, the quality, care and patience surpassed my expectations 10 fold! I cannot recommend the classes enough. If you are looking to learn how to sew or improve your skills this is the place for you.
I’m not usually one to leave reviews but am doing so in the hopes that it may help someone else avoid the experience I’ve had. I have repeatedly tried to buy things from this shop and left with an unsavoury taste in my mouth after interacting with the staff - rude, patronising, seemingly inconvenienced by me trying to purchase from their shop. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me 5 times, shame on me? If you’re looking for knitting supplies, wild and woolly have a fab selection and treat you as you are worthy of being treated kindly, politely, without a condescending tone. If looking for sewing supplies, the fabric shop on well street is great and is always happy to accept your business. Hoping the grouchy man here gets the help he needs so he can stop taking it out on the customers.
A friend and I both did the beginners evening sewing course with barley over 3 weeks. Cannot recommend it enough, barley is an excellent teacher and we both left the course feeling really confident about sewing and starting our own projects
I attended 2 beginners sewing classes with Barley earlier this month and I couldn't recommend it enough. Barley is patience, so knowledgeable and clearly loves what she does. The classes were small and supportive and before you know it, you are exceeding your own sewing expectations. I cant believe how much I learnt in such a short amount of time. Looking forward to taking more classes here in the future!
I came to the shop to look for a Christmas present for my Mum who loves knitting. It says open, but the door was locked. When I arrived a guy let me in who honestly looked like I’d ruined his day, I sanitised my hands and had my mask on and was looking around with my hands in my pockets. The big older man in the shop was so rude, arrogant, and sassy to me I left the shop, telling him so, to which he said “I know I am.” I had an Obby class booked which I was keeping to support businesses like this during covid, after this experience I’m looking for a refund and will never advise friends to go again. Sadly, I went to write this and have seen many have shared my experience.
I am really enjoying the Basic sewing class 3 weeks. The teacher is very patient, truly passionate teaching and sewing and I am feeling very cosy and nice in her classes. The company has great values like sustainability and social design. I highly recommend to try other people that after COVID feel like learning and meet new people. Really nice place, thank you :
I have never been treated so hostility from an employee before. I should have read the other reviews before shopping here as I can see it’s common to be treated this way. I cannot express enough not to shop here. The man working here was incredibly rude and completely unknowledgeable about yarns. If your looking to support small businesses in craft go somewhere else. I left the shop almost in tears and shaking - don’t ruin your Sunday just keep walking to a different craft shop.
Great recommendations for the beginner that I am and lovely service. Thanks.
An absolutely awesome place. Inclusive workshops and drop ins full of different levels and craft classes from sewing to embroidery to upcycling, knitting and many more. Friendly atmosphere, loads of support. They also sell some craft sets and have wonderful networking events.
The door is extra wide and the staff are really friendly. Shop fully wheelchair accessible. Beware when booking workshops though, the workshop area is downstairs. Great place for gifts, craft advice, mending advice especially, yarn for sale, fabric & sewing machines, embroidery yarn, threads and a range of upcycled homewears, clothing and accessories.
