Poor service, wrong car, and late! Faulty breaks, faulty window screen wipers!

This morning my booking was taken. At 1.10 pm I got a phone call saying my car pick up was delayed for probably an hour. Too late to rebook my taxi as I have an eight mile journey to get here. So now I’m stuck in a depressing office waiting for at least an hour for my precooked car. Not even an offer of a cup of coffee! I won’t be using this company again. Sent from my iPhone

No organisation, no competence and very dirty. Europcar used to provide a good service, but this agency did not. To avoid if you can.

Thought I'd had helpful friendly service until I received the bill. Much larger than I'd been led to believe. Pricing had not been properly explained. Wrote to Europcar, many times, who refused to address the problem. Kept saying the amounts were correct - which I did not dispute. I wanted to know why they'd never been explained. Why I'd never been asked to sign the box on the contract where the true cost is set out. Finally, out of frustration, wrote to BVRLA - British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association - the car hire industry's conciliation service, and learnt an important lesson. Apparently, it does not matter how counter staff get a contract signed, so long as they do. Because it's always the customer's duty to figure out costs for themselves. I quote "it is ultimately the customer’s responsibility to check that they have read and understood the terms of the agreement before signing it, and to seek clarification from the rental company if any aspect of the agreement is unclear." It is, in other words, always the customer's duty to not trust the person they're dealing with. To ignore what you're encouraged to believe, because the car hire industry doesn't care if you understand a contract, only that you sign it. I have re-written to the BVRLA, pointing out that it is widely recognised, in other industries, that this approach is harmful to reputations. I have yet to receive a response.
