Found this little gem on our travels in Brixton. We arrived after 7pm however the chef accommodated our request for the crab curry as they said there wasn’t enough for a full portion. Nonetheless, it was prepared and absolutely delicious. The steamed sea bass was cooked to perfection . I’m always sceptical of Caribbeans overcooking fish but I can say this NOT the case at Etta’s Seafood Kitchen. We will definitely eat here again until have tried all the dishes on the menu. The homemade sorrel was emotional. The sista that served us was amazing and so helpful. Thank you and lastly the plantain chips were so sweet
Young lady in the restaurant should learn some customer service basics like "good afternoon" 05/09. Found her reception very frosty and I was their only customer. I greeted her first. Ordered a glass of prosecco and the snapper. Waited for over 20 minutes, despite reminding her about the drink, it came after the food. Not good enough. Positives, snapper was fresh and well cooked. Plantain was good too. Negative is that the salad was clearly off and not fresh. I suspect it is the owner that came in halfway through my meal and she was very friendly and welcoming. I would love to go back but please work on your people skills.
Had a good cheap lunch here, fish curry and a jerk prawn salad. 8£ with a drink. Small serve on the salad, but it was tasty. Chef was so lovely.
The staff is so friendly. But the food… the FOOD?! Epic! So delicious. I ordered the mackerel runaround and it was divine. Perfectly seasoned. My partner had the jerk chicken and it was incredibly tender. And the salt fish critters were perfection. I only wish they had more than one waiter for all the tables while we were there but other than that, this was perfection.
We had Jerk Chicken and Seafood Curry at Ettas. Both was absolutely delicious and Etta and her staff were very welcoming. Coming to Brixton, I recommend coming here for food.Food: 5/5
Was excited about visiting this restaurant but unfortunately it really did fall short. The owner was lovely and kind, but was working on her own. This led to us waiting over two hours for our food only two other tables of two people. The cod fritters had barely any cod, the rice of dry and reheated, the fish curry did not at all taste fresh. The ackee and salt fish and steamed sea bass were good. The owner did acknowledge we had waited an extortionate amount of time and brought us out a piece of cake and ice cream for our birthday and 3 glasses of prosecco, very generously. At £30 a head with no alcohol, it did feel over priced and the food just did reallt disappoint. This may have been a one-off, but unlikely to return.
Really delicious, topnotch Jamaican cooking at its best. Generous portions, tasty combinations and excellent presentation. Etta was warm and welcoming. She came over and chatted for a while. Lovely lady. Would definitely come again and bring friends and family.Food: 5/5
The seafood curry has such a wonderful depth of flavour and it’s so well cooked. I also had a delicious oyster and the homemade ginger beer. All super delicious. And it’s a cute little place to sit. And super friendly service.Food: 5/5
One of best eating experiences I’ve had in a very very long time. The food is amazing 10/10 truthfully. The service is just as great too, the owner Etta is passionate about her kitchen and her customers. Real life experience, first time I have gone to eat with friends and spoken to the owner/chef personally. 10/10 for service aswell as food. I highly recommend and advise you to plan a visit with your eating pants thank you so much guys. Lobster for the win!!
We had a birthday lunch here and could not have been happier with the food and service! Etta owner/chef made us feel so welcome and was extremely generous. The seafood is fresh and delicious, portions are generous and everything is very reasonably priced too. We’ll definitely be coming back.
