We were looking for somewhere to eat before the theatre and found this place. If you like a bit of spice and Caribbean food you’ll enjoy this place. Menu is nice and I went for the mutton curry and my girlfriend the chickpea curry. We both had the jollof rice. My mutton curry was gorgeous, the meat very tender and melt in your mouth. They also do 2 for 1 cocktails between 5 and 7. The staff were friendly and service good. All in all worth a visit.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Rum Kitchen in London's Soho district, and it was an unforgettable experience that blended delicious Caribbean flavors, an inviting atmosphere, and a vibrant island spirit. Upon entering The Rum Kitchen, I was immediately drawn to the lively and energetic ambiance. The tropical decor, reggae tunes playing in the background, and the friendly chatter of fellow diners created an authentic Caribbean vibe that transported me to a sun-soaked paradise right in the heart of London. The staff at The Rum Kitchen were not only accommodating but also exuded warmth and hospitality. From the moment I was seated, their attentiveness and knowledge of the menu were apparent. They were more than happy to guide me through the extensive rum selection, which is a highlight of the restaurant. Their passion for rum and the Caribbean cuisine was infectious and added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at The Rum Kitchen is a culinary journey through the Caribbean, offering a wide range of dishes inspired by the region's diverse flavors. I had the pleasure of sampling several dishes, including jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, and plantains, and each bite was a burst of Caribbean authenticity. The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned, with a smoky and spicy kick that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The coconut shrimp were crispy and accompanied by a delectable dipping sauce, while the sweet and savory plantains provided a delightful contrast. The Rum Kitchen also boasts an impressive selection of rum-based cocktails, and I highly recommend trying one or more during your visit. From classic mojitos to creative rum punches, their drinks perfectly complement the bold and flavorful cuisine. In conclusion, The Rum Kitchen in Soho is a fantastic dining destination for those seeking a taste of the Caribbean in the heart of London. The vibrant atmosphere, friendly service, and authentic Caribbean flavors make it a must-visit. Whether you're a rum enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, The Rum Kitchen offers a tropical escape that will leave you longing for more. It's a true Caribbean gem in the heart of Soho.
Sharing platter was delicious and good value. Cocktails were nice and strong, not like other places that are watered down yummy! Service was attentive but not pushy. Natalia was awesome Food: 5/5
Food was good - filling and decent value. A little overpriced for what it is — but what do you expect in soho. We had the starter tasting platter - plantains could have been cooked more. I got the jerk bun and my co worker got the peanut chicken. They’re stingy on the sauces but the chicken was very tender. The fries were also really good. Their mojito was strong and they have a mean happy hour - 241 deal.
Nice spot with loads of vibes especially on the weekends. Best to make reservations. Food is good for most parts salted at times but flavourful but limited variety especially for vegans/pescatarians. Drinks are the best here and happy hour is even better with their 2 for 1 specials. Definitely a great space to vibes with friends/family with an amazing blend of Caribbean cuisine and music.
The service and drink quality are what stood out the most for us. Marinela and the rest of the crew were very helpful and fun! The drinks were a great value and we watched them pour the shots with a pretty heavy hand which was amazing We shared the dirty fries which were delicious! We plan to come back again before we leave London.Food: 5/5
We went for drinks on Friday afternoon. We had the window seat so had a great view out into the courtyard. Whoever was in control of the playlist I'd give them a 10/10 for vibes. Cocktails were really tasty and the staff were really friendly too. Take advantage of the 241 deal!! Definitely will be coming back for food as well next time.
We are currently in town visiting from NY and wanted to support a Caribbean business, we came across The Rum Kitchen while on Oxford and we were instantly intrigued. The place did not disappoint, great food and drinks. Friendly staff and excellent service, thank you! Love and light from your Caribbean family and continued success in your business.
The food here was entirely too good! I went during the workday and so it wasn’t packed, but busy. The food was prepared in a timely manner. My mango mojito was a bit lacking but the delicious food and great service made me not care.Food: 5/5
Unfortunately the loud, energetic and flavourful atmosphere did not translate into the food. The most disappointing dish had to the chickpea curry. The coconut cream was a dominant flavour in the rice and peas which was too much for my liking. Should be more subtle. The curry lacked flavour but did have spice. The salt fish fritters were okay. Ideally would have liked a bit more salt fish and salt in the fish, but the fritters worked well with the sweet chilli sauce. The dirty fries were pretty good. The chicken was tender and had flavour. Lacked a bit of spice but can understand that they have to cater for the masses. The fries could have done with being cooked a bit longer to have the it more crunch, but out of the three dishes it was the best one we had on the night. But when we say ‘the best’ we wouldn’t say it was amazing.
