late last night arrived at Ely railway station after a long journey, delays , weather , other problems, The railway person employe at Ely was fantastic he really should be personally thanked by his employer, this man organised taxis, due to weather conditions, no trains running, his replacement buses not arriving, This man arranged taxis and dealt with the customers quickly and efficiently, Top marks to this employee Also a great thank you to the Taxi driver we had, a truly professional driver, concerned about passengers comfort , and his driving skills impeccable, This taxi driver was the second taxi to arrive he to should be thanked for his kindness.. We are quick to moan about bad service, last night the Ely railway employee, and the taxi driver certainly needed commendation by the railway. I just wish I had got the taxi driver details , he certainly would be a taxi driver to have if you needed his services.
Nice station serving Ely. Has a couple of food and snack outlets. Also has a very warm room to keep out of the cold. Warm underground subway connects the two platforms. Also toilet facilities available and one for the disabled. Staff here were very helpful with questions and directions.
Perfectly good station but really not the prettiest or nicest to have to wait at! Can in fact be bleak in bad weather. If you have time a brisk walk to the cathedral makes changing trains here worthwhile. If you don't have the time you can get a glimpse of the cathedral from the car park or indeed from the end of platform 2!
Simple but nice station of a nice town. Service is god from this station to Kings Lynn or London. Wide platforms good for proper social distance.
A small rural station with an underpass connecting the platforms.nnThere is bench seating on the windy platforms and a small enclosed waiting room.nnYou can grab a coffee from the concession while you listen to the rather murky tannoy and try to figure out which platform your train has been switched to.
