We visited this restaurant on a hot day for an early dinner just as they opened for dinner. The decor was good and we were seated immediately. That's where all the good things ended. The guy who took our order looked disinterested in providing any service and was a bit rude and patronising when we called him over to add to the order. The food was a monumental disaster with not even one dish justifying the cuisine or the price they charge. Maybe the smiles are reserved for people who don't know what the regional cuisine looks and tastes like. Pretentious food and staff who couldn't care less.
Food was really good. Serving sizes were massive. The price was just right. And the staff were friendly. My friends and I were full to the brim afterwards. Will definitely come back.
I had a really nice fish curry in there! I went on my own for a quick dinner - and I paid less than £20 for the curry, a bowl of rice and a beer. It’s quite small inside so if you’re going in a bigger group then a reservation would be a good idea! I would definitely go back again! Even for the same fish curry - so delish!
As a Singaporean, I was glad to have found Ekachai. The food was fairly authentic, tasty, and came in very decent portion sizes. We tried their beef Hor fun and wonton Noodle soup. Beef Hor fun - crucially, it came with a smoky 'wok hei' that elevated the dish significantly. The dish overall was satisfying, and tastes very similar to what I would've expected to have back in Singapore. The main nitpick is that no lard was used, but I can understand this given that part of their target market may include Muslims. Wonton Noodle soup - the standout here was the soup. The soup was delicious and brought a smile to my kids' faces. It isn't some haphazardly put together broth, but rather one that was prepared with good ingredients. The main nitpick was that the noodles were a tad overcooked, which resulted in a somewhat soggy texture. Service - very pleasant, prompt, polite. Overall, we had a satisfying lunch. We will return to try their other dishes
Came here for lunch on a Sunday and it was fairly busy but food came out quite quick. Portions are ok for the price. The two chili spicy meals are not that spicy at all. The Hainan chicken rice was a little on the ginger side but, still edible. The sambal udang sauce could of been a bit more on the thicker side so could stick more to the protein. The wife had prawn pad thai didn't take a picture but, she said it was good and a decent amount. Crispy squid came out hot, crispy was left with the urge of ordering another as they were quite small. Overall good first experience at this restaurant and can see us coming back again The waitress was so nice to our two kiddies letting them try some coconut & lychee juice and then after they ate gave them a chocolate. Little things like that go a long way. Great work Ekachai!!! Vegetarian options: Veggie and vegan options are available Kid-friendliness: Read above
Three of us went here for a meal and it was a decent one. I'd like post my feedback on following topics. Food, portion size and value for money : It was really good. One of the best Nasigoreng's I have tasted. Duck spring rolls & Prawn sesame rolls were tasty too. Yes I recommend Service : A lot can be improved in this department. Didn't really feel the visit was welcomed & they wanted us to leave before a certain time despite having a table booked. Wanted to swap a stool with a back supported chair from an unoccupied table, which was rejected. So, I'd like to ask them to review their practices in this department ⁉ Setup/ interior : Was all right, not the most spacious & most comfortable, but acceptable seating / spaces were available. Will we be visiting again? : Yes, would do. ‍‍‍ Recommending to others? : Yes, I'd like to recommend. Thank you.
Today I somehow craved for Hainan chicken rice and so I came here. The place was indeed really popular, we barely could secure a table. We ordered Hainan chicken rice and Kai Krapow, the Hainan chicken rice was not a disappointment, the rice was perfectly soaked in chicken oil and the chicken tasted amazing, I was convinced this place is the place to have your Hainan chicken rice. However, my partner said the Kai Krapow was a bit salty -- she drank lots of water to counter that lol
Me and my partner had hainan chicken rice and xiao long bao bun and nasi goreng rice dish. The service was nice and pleasant it's my 2nd time to this branch of ekachai the staff here are friend. The delivery of the dishes to tables is fast and efficient. Like the kitchen is open and we can see what is going on.Food: 5/5
Are here twice!! Both times were Excellent !! Staff is Super nice, polite, cheerful, professional and hustlers!! Food is Great tasting!! Highly Recommended
I had the seafood laksa while my sister had the hainan chicken both dishes were amazing both dishes were filling and the place wasn’t too busy which meant we didn’t have to wait too long to get our food. I really enjoyed the laksa it’s such a huge portion you need to be very hungry to finish it or you could share it.Recommended dishesHainan Chicken Rice, Seafood Curry Laksa
