Once the only place to dine on modern classics, Eat17 now has some stuff local competition for a good beer and burger, steak or Sunday roast. The place has had a make over and some of the friendly familiarity has gone for me, with new faces behind the bar and the hipster influx of recent times. But this place still has its soul, great food, brilliant staff and a vibrant atmosphere. Breakfast is now a queue-out-the-door affair at the weekends and you have to book or get their as they unlock the doors to get a table straight away. The burgers are heaven as are their starter/nibbles. Never have room for dessert. Not the cheapest - a young family of 4 can expect to spend £60-£70 with wine / beer. Worth it, though

It is a good meal, but vastly overrated. For what you get (both quality and quantity) it is very expensive and therefore poor value for money. The service is about the same as anywhere else and they do that thing that central London places do now by adding an auto 12.5% tip. Just a head's up, the large wine is 175ml, which I consider to be a medium. Their small is 125ml. Little things matter in a dining experience.

Lovely atmosphere and clean restaurant. We went for an early - 6pm - sitting so it fairly quiet before the main rush at around 8pm. Burgers were excellent, especially chicken burger. Would recommend it if you're in Walthamstow.

I can't eat enough of their vegetarian curry. And afogato with salt caramel ice cream. They are very kid friendly too. Love this place!

OMG 10 years on Eat17 is just as good if not better. Full to the brim at 11.45 on a Saturday morning, but thankfully we managed to get the only available seats at the bar for the lunch menu that began service at 12.30pm We were treated to specially made fresh tea to help ward off our persistent colds (thanks Javier), with a Danish pastry as we awaited lunch service and boy was it worth waiting for. The tender shreds of lamb that made up our shepherds pie was succulent, the creamy mash delicious, plus a side of sautéed green veg fur balance and a glass of Malbec. FOOD HEAVEN on a cold Saturday afternoon. My only criticism was that is was too much so we had to take half home for later! What more can I say.... I'LL BE BACK!
