We were there for a meal to celebrate a family birthday so we didn't need to book rooms. The meal was decent, although we found the soup needed added salt and pepper. Otherwise, it was good. Gluten-free was available but not noted on the menu we were given to select from when booking. We had to ask for it.Service: 4/5
Beautiful building with amazingly friendly staff. They catered our family post funeral service, so I am unable to comment on the rooms. But the service was tip top and the hotel is beautiful. Food & drinks: The bar staff were friendly and drinks were reasonably priced.
Cant comment on the rooms as didnt stay. Treated my mum to an afternoon tea along with my sister. Got parked no bother, showed to our table quickly and drinks order taken. The room was busy, at least 10 tables filled in the room we were in, it took a while for drinks to arrive as there was only 4 people serving the tables including the bar. Food arrived but no tea/ coffee, we had to ask for it, was expecting a pot to be left on the table but it wasnt, we had to ask again for another cup each. Ordered more drinks which took another 15/ 20 minutes to arrive as we had to ask for it again. Food options was ok, sandwiches could have been better prepared, haggis balls were good, good scones and cakes. Service was the let down for us, too many tables booked and not enough staff to serve. The room was cold aswell but luckily i had a small heater next to me. Not sure if i would go again due to shortage of staff on the day
Oswald House is a Georgian house with its Georgian features still intact it is spotless with a very friendly staff. I would 100 percent recommend it for your function.Rooms: 5/5
Wifi didn’t work in room, no hand soap in dispenser, shampoo conditioner etc all empty too. Room description states all these things are included. I checked in at 9pm so didn’t complain as tired. Two of the three towels were dirty with what I can only describe as make up - don’t think they had been washed. The only clean towel had hair it which stuck to my face when drying. Pubic hair under duvet - kettle not PAT tested, no biscuits. Breakfast was continental and had a good selection. Melon slices were stored within a plastic bread bin right beside salmon which didn’t look fresh. Floor boards very squeaky. No door handle yes no door handle you have to swing the door shut putting your fingers at risk! Very awkward to try and close, you need to pull it hard for it to slam shut. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again for the price they are charging.
The staff are outstanding: friendly, welcoming and courteous. Fortunately, this more than compensates for a couple of niggles. My room had no mirror other than a shaving mirror in the bathroom. At least it was portable. Shower was brilliant. Continental breakfast was good and with the option of a bacon roll. Sadly, I had already filled up with muesli and croissants before I knew that. No bacon rolls on offer on second morning. Coffee at first morning's breakfast was disappointing. Second morning, excellent. Dinner menu was limited, but tasty. Just need to repeat that the reception and restaurant staff were wonderful.
Work Christmas night. Food was average sweet was terrible. 2 men doing the disco no enthusiasm to get the party going. Last year was excellent Very disappointed.
Couldn't get a drink because it was closed to regulars so a wedding could be held... again. Considering looking for an alternative local

Great food and a good selection of beers. There were too many dogs in the bar for me. Different if they are kept tight on lead, just a personal thing.Service: 4/5
