The store itself looks well past its sell by date, and there are massive gaps where stock once was. The previous cafe has gone and just a bit of mess left in its place...... HOWEVER..... There are currently MASSIVE bargains to be had, including on alot of designer wear. Never have I seen so much money off of high end goods. Also, FYI this is a return place for all " sofa " branded sofas and beds. You can get a ridiculous amount off of returned goods in this store. You will need to organise your own transport to collect a sofa or bed though if you purchase one here.. It's well worth a look inside. Beware, no air con, or toilets available in store though.
Hardly any stock, no cafe, no customer toilets, rude and dismissive staff when you do track them down, they are a rare find, the only ones as far as I could tell were on the first floor. However they are then too busy chatting to provide any resemblance of customer service, though there seemed to be no customers either, apart from ourselves. Due to the lack of staff, like other reviewers, we went to John Lewis, much nicer, staffed, and full of things you might just want to buy.
Used to be a great shop, especially when it was Beatties. Now it's just one big sports attire provider. Overly expensive, distinct lack of choice of anything unless you're looking for overpriced branded polo shirts etc. No atmosphere, it's a cold uninspiring experience. Virtually impossible to tell who staff are from a distance as some don't dress smartly or stand out as being any different to shoppers.
I visited today 3/12/22 I couldn’t believe the state of the staff most of them looked homeless not shop staff I was after some help in the men’s department and a girl/ woman was standing there I had no clue she worked there she was so scruffy marks down her top I was gobsmacked when she asked if I want help. In the end I left and went to John Lewis were there is a bit more pride and professionalism. We Will not visit the store again. no doubt I will read in news that house of Fraser has gone in the near future and I wonder why. Get a grip and have some pride and respect.
Poor customer service, Xmas 2022 we have misplaced the receipt for a North Face Jacket, they refused to exchange for a larger size despite us having the credit card statement and all swing tags were intact. John Lewis offer a better customer service and where we will purchase from in the future and I would advise others the same. Shame as we have shopped here for 25 years
Shop very tired but good choice of items but 1 star due to a particularly ignorant member of staff in the ladies dept. Waited 5 mins for her to show, completely no eye contact or acknowledgement. Asked if we needed a bag which we didn't then simply folded the item and left it on the counter. Handed the receipt all with no eye contact, no thankyou despite my wife and I saying thanks. I actually went back to the till and said thankyou again to which she replied yes thankyou looking over my shoulder, what a dreadful advertisement for House of Fraser. Never again.
You can definitely tell business is dwindling here - it feels like I've gone into a time warp back to the 90s. Leaking ceilings, no working toilets for customers, all looks a bit sparse.
Called into to make some purchases for Christmas the store is nicely decorated with the Christmas theme lovely helpful friendly staff very conveniently situated for parking by an adjoining link a very pleasant shopping experience Well worth a visit
Not sure how much longer this store will be around, it's looking very tired inside and was quite empty of customers.
It's like a marketplace now, but some good bargains
