Really yummy roast dinners served on a Sunday but puddings were a big disappointment. I ordered a brownie based off of an Instagram picture the pub posted which looked beautiful, with ganache like chocolate poured over the top. What arrived was much more 'slice of cake' consistency with chocolate syrup, the kind used for kid's ice cream. My partner's cheesecake had been warmed up as if to be defrosted and was just melting into the plate, but they kindly removed this from the bill. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Maybe avoid the £7 desserts but certainly go for a lovely roast dinner!
Warm and friendly pub: David and Terry are very welcoming, there is a great selection of beers and the food is delicious. Loved the beef dripping sauce that came with my burger and the pork belly just melted in the mouth :
Found this little gem of a place and was immediately felt welcome. Cosy pub with good atmosphere. Stayed for lunch after reading other reviews and although I had not pre booked was fitted in. The food was freshly cooked, and very flavourful, and hot. Certainly not massed produced and served up to order as I have experienced in other establishments. And the portion sizes were more than ample, even with my large appetite, almost leaving me unsure as to whether i could tackle a desert as well, but on the advice of another reviewer I sercumbed to ordering the apple crumble, and I was glad I had. Pleasant staff always willing to help and asking if everything was OK without being over intrusive. I would without doubt visit again even though its in excess of an hour drive from my home. The chef who works here unseen deserves a mention for the attention to detail like the subtle Basil taste from Roast potatoes, and freshly cooked veg. Will most certainly look forward to returning.
My partner and I came here for the first time this evening. I called at 3pm and managed to get a table for 5.30pm on a Sunday which is bonus. I believe some people were being turned away after we got there due to busyness. We both ordered the chicken and whiskey pate, really tasty. We also both ordered the beef burger with fries and coleslaw. Everything was delicious but the portion was a bit smaller than we would have liked. Our desert was also really nice. The waitress was so friendly and nice and when I said about the size of the meal she said she would definitely tell the chef and appreciated the feedback. We felt very comfortable here and the ambience was really great. A few small doggos were seated inside too.
Well, where to begin with my review as I'm absolutely spoilt for choice on how to rate it. From ambience, friendly staff, gorgeous food and cleaniless - this pub is by far one of the best local spots for miles. Whether it's for family dining, or a simple date night, to nipping in for a quick post walk drink by the fire, I am never leaving this place less than content. The food is faultless, and considering I am gluten free and always prepared for a limited menu choice in restaurants, there are so many GF substitutes available. On top of this the menu is frequently changing with delicious seasonal produce available and the dishes are true culinary delights. Great wine selection, lots of non-alcoholic options, and as an added bonus they sport a cocktail list which is a lovely surprise. A big shout out to the owner, as you can see that a lot of love and care is poured into this establishment on the daily, and his staff are always only too happy to accommodate any request with ample friendliness. For the warmer months - there is also a beautiful garden in the back and front terrace which are always covered in sprays of flowers.
Great Food and Great Service! Really nice pub, a lovely friendly atmosphere..made to feel very welcome! will be back
very nice pub. food is of a high quality and very nicely presented. helpful polite staff. menu caters for all . lovely for families or couples.
Superb food , David and the team are fantastic, can’t recommend highly enough. Good gluten free options for my daughter too.
We went here on good advice from a friend and based on its reviews . If I was being picky I would say that the air con was a bit cold and service could have been more attentive . However the food we ordered was tasty
Good to catch up with old friends. Pleasant pub, food OK but nothing special Atmosphere very nice. X x
