Superb food, good beer, very friendly and helpful staff, easy to get to, and lovely ambience. And very importantly for us, dog friendly, with the staff happy for us to be indoors at a normal table, rather than just stuck in the bar area or outdoors. Well worth a visit
Not impressed with the small roast. My partner didn’t have any roast potatoes at all. I had one slither of beef. See pictures. Was told it was Head Office policy when I queried the lack of beef and potatoes. Oh, I had a half of a potato cut in two. They disguise the lack of produce by a massive Yorkshire Pudding. We eventually got additional sides but the fact they think they can serve this shows a complete lack of quality control in the Kitchen. Saying that, they did comp one dessert but the fact they consider serving a meal lacking what is advertised in their menu is not good. Some people wouldn’t raise the issue so they get away with it. Won’t be going there again. The waiter was very apologetic so top marks for him!
Really nice and cosy pub with large outside area. It’s my local so have been several times and love the vegan Sunday roasts. Am a bit bored of the 2 vegan options on the main menu now though… be great if they’re changed up a bit..
Based on the previous reviews and the amount of them we decided to eat here. Unfortunately we weren’t impressed. It could be amazing but maybe we caught it on an off night but the food was average, at best, I had an over cooked and pretty small wagyu burger and a small portion of chips, it was ‘OK’ but it could have been so much better! Ordered a flat white to finish, it was huge, more like a large latte. As mentioned, not bad, just average.
Happily waiting at the bus stop and enjoying the experience. Right now it's a grey sky and a delicate drizzle following the earlier heavy rain which was such a mighty relief after six weeks of drought and a furnace sun. Why the contentment? Simply the pleasure of a superb lunchtime experience with two old school pals. The Coach and Horses provides an inspiring menu, while still including many pub favourites. We three were a little more adventurous and were rewarded with absolutely brilliant dishes, served by people who really cared, in a lovely atmosphere. My personal choice was the shredded chicken, green pepper nourish bowl which was truly delightful. McMullens IPA provided a perfect accompaniment for the delicious food. I have no hesitation in recommending this venue and can't wait to returnt to sample more of their menu.
Fabulous food and staff excellent, our two doggies were thoroughly spoilt by the team….lots of doggie treats & super dog friendly pub. Food was plentiful, fresh, well cooked & very tasty. We will be back, we loved it!
Lovely pub, great food, super friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit!!
The best roast I've had in a long time - potatoes were just the right combination of crispy and fluffy. The staff who served us were attentive but didn't rush us, even when it began to get busier. Highly recommend and I'm looking forward to a return visit soon.
This pub is very nicely decorated and has a really good atmosphere, the food was good, but the thing that really made it for us was the staff. They were so polite and helpful and they were so kind to our dog - they made a big fuss of her when she came in and then they got a bowl of water for her which we were really impressed with. Thank you for a lovely meal and we will definitely be back!
After more than 15 years big fans of C and H, the food was like roller coaster good and bad, just after Covid the food was unexpected disappointing and then now is almost back to as good as it was again, for my opinion food is. It only has to taste good, the presentations also important, for example your beef pie it was delicious when we went yesterday but the dish was too small and not really comfortable food was overflowing when cutting, if you use the same white round deep dish as before I think it does looks nice and upgrading the dish to another level even its the same kind of food. The round sun you used right now is perfect for burger or starters. Overall we are local and love to see our only decent restaurant doing well.
