Lovely lunch at dukes. The menu has some great dishes on, or if you have a hearty appetite theres always the main menu. Anything you choose would be fab. The surroundings a d atmosphere are good as are the staff.
Friendly staff great drinks but best of all the food is excellent. As a life long fish and chips fan I must say this is the best on the east coast. At £8.95 you will be astounded at its size and quality. Five stars isn't enough.
They simply refused to serve me and my friend food and soft drinks because we didn't have IDs! We arrived there to have lunch, talked to the barman, got seats, looked at the menu but when I went to order, the same barman that told me about the service and everything said "they don't serve anything without IDs" not even food and plain water. I had the feeling that that wasn't the real issue, another guy was instructing him, he looked like he didn't really know what was going on, but... Don't think I'm going there again
Great atmosphere and service with friendly staff. The food is excellent particularly the fish and chips with an excellent specials of the day board along with good beers and wine. A good mix of age groups during the day overall highly recommended.
I have been coming here for years, I love it, but I was horrified to see a new bartender palming money. I never check my change but I will from now on. You don't usually associate things like that in such a nice area. Please start to check your change.
Having been to Dukes a few times before I was looking forward to a nice lunch, however this did not turn out to be the case…. I firstly asked for the Meat Pie with chunky chips but they didn’t have this in so was advised “if you want a traditional meal try the Lamb, Mash and Veg”. I ordered this but was a bit taken aback when the food came out….. Lamb, Mash and VEG consisted of Lamb, Mash and GARDEN PEAS. When I questioned the waiter as to where the veg was his reply was “Arnt peas a veg” and stood staring at me with a vacant expression on his face. I agree peas are a veg but would of liked a bit more information when ordering this that in Dukes when you order veg you only get GARDEN PEAS. If I had have known this from the start I would not of paid £8.95 for this and would have gone for the £5.50 Fish, Chips and VEG Peas This would not of bothered me so much but the attitude of the waiter when I asked the question was unhelpful and not bothered. Needless to say I won’t be returning any time soon
Sorry. Steak was awesome but waited about 45 mins to serve 6 of us. When the food came it was just poorly served and not much veg to go round. Id try Garbutts, best on this street
Yet another great bar restaurant in Princes Avenue. Visited for lunch on 21/5/16 to be served by friendly attentive staff in comfortable surroundings. Food tasted great. Highly recommend.
Regular here as it is local. Good for a coffee, lite bite or a meal. Beer selection is average but get busy on Friday and Saturday evenings.
A modern choice with comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff and universally pleasing menu. A great choice for a quiet drink during the day sat near the window, watching the world go by.
