An excellent old inn dated 1561, which incorporates part of a curious old toll station on one corner. It's been enlarged and updated inside, but still manages to provide some attractive curios and charm. Excellent food and a good selection of beers. Plenty of seating inside and out to enjoy a summer's evening. Friendly staff and interesting chats with locals.
We had a really lovely evening, food was really delicious and good quality, and service was great - all were welcoming and friendly. A few things weren't available/had run out, but it didn't affect us plus they had a few specials on. I look forward to our next visit! Also, highly recommend booking especially on a Friday or Saturday - even just on the day if there's space. Vegetarian options: Lots of different veterinarian options.
The restaurant came highly recommended, menu is a great and enjoyed the local winter menu. Food and presentation was great. The staff were amazing, really friendly and hospital! The food was ok, and took a really long time to get to our tables. Desert took about 30min. I would stop by for a drink but I’d skip dinner
Had the delicious rump steak. Cooked to perfection - medium rare. The peppercorn sauce was different, strong. Chips were lovely as well, perfect portion ready for dessert! Chocolate ice cream was lovely. Also had the malbec which paired well.
We’ve defected to the Duke of Wellington since the food at our local went downhill following a take over by a big pubco chain. We are mightily relieved that a decent gastro pub still remains in our neighbourhood! We’ve had a number of meals here with different menus and have yet to experience a major disappointment Salted Caramel Tart was an experience we won’t be repeating but otherwise the food and service has been flawless.
I was really impressed with everything about this pub. The staff were absolutely wonderful. So friendly and accommodating. It was my mums birthday and I had my 11 month old son and our 3 dogs. The food was great, especially the pie! Inside the pub was cozy and comfortable with a lovely view. Baby changing is also spacious. Car park is small but we got the last space : Would definitely recommend this pub and will go back. Kid-friendliness: Staff were so nice and made sure we were comfortable.
I was welcomed by a lovely young lad who showed me to my table and made me feel very relaxed. The roast beef was delicious and the waitresses brought me extra gravy too. I finished with coffee with Smarties as petit fours. If you are in the area it's worth a visit.
Lovely food, friendly service, family friendly. Would recommend a stop here for some good local comfort food.
Great venue and friendly staff. Very accommodating for families and nice atmosphere. I had the steak which was done to perfection. Would highly recommend. Cashless payments only.
Only having been outside for their pop up coffee shop and for some lunch it is not a bad spot. I am keen to go inside when the weather drops off. I have to say their cheese toastie is fantastic! The mac n cheese not so great, it was just bechamel sauce, pasta and no cheese. The main road makes it a touch noisey to sit outside.
