This is a really tricky place to review. I went on probably the busiest day of the school holidays which meant it was slightly more difficult to see things and get around the place. It also effected the time it took to get in . The good thing with the ticket is it's valid for a whole year, so I may go back at a quieter time. The building and garden itself is an interesting relic of a bygone time. It is very well curated maybe too much so. There is so much to read if you want too. The volunteers were all excellent , knowledgeable, hard working and clearly loved the place , the little cafe was excellent too, but for some reason it just seemed to be too much aimed at kids for me and I didnt get enough historically out of it. However I do appreciate that it is important to get kids interested in history and to that end its done well.
The 1620s house and garden is a lovely place to go it has 2 woods and beautiful gardens and a lovely tea room. I had the soup of the day which was leek and potato soup. The staff are very friendly and also they give you tours around the house and the gardens. The maze is very tricky but really fun . They also have amazing activites for children. The car park has a lot of room so you can bring your car. 5 stars just amazing.
Absolutely brilliant . Spent a good few hours here . Free parking and great staff who are very friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee and cake amazing too . The gardens were lovely , the house interesting and immaculate. The toilets were clean and very comfortable too . Perfect attraction to visit for old and young and not expensive.
A real hidden gem and a fascinating little country house! The guides were lovely and very engaging. The orchards were well looked after and full of beautiful fruit. The tearoom was excellent value for money too. Great morning visit!!
Very nice house and gardens to walk around. Ticketed place but you can come back as many times within a year. Nice tea rooms too so a pleasant place to go and it's not too large that it will take hours of your time. To do the house, gardens and stop at the tea rooms will be about 2 hrs visit.
