"Welcome to Dogs Trust Canterbury! We're a happy, friendly team and would love you to come and visit our rehoming centre to see our fantastic facilities and all the waggy tails of dogs looking for new homes. We're open for general browsing on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday for 12-4pm. Outside of these times, please make an appointment via our website.Dogs Trust has been in Kent since 1999 when we took over the site in the small village of Chestfield outside Canterbury. We refurbished the site in 2000 and opened to the public with 24 kennels allowing the centre to care for up to 40 dogs at any one time. In 2009, we expanded the centre and now have 38 kennels and can care for up to 70 dogs and puppies on site."

Found our four legged friend at Dogs Trust Canterbury, in Autumn 2021, they took great care to assess our suitability and that our home environment would be suitable for the dog, we were aware that with a rescue dog there might be some 'issues' and Dogs Trust are supportive if help or advice are required. There is paperwork to complete and an adoption fee to be paid... 'Jack' has been home 9 months now, has settled in well and is a different dog altogether, as he has come to trust us... Basically, he runs the house, and we pay the bills.
Staff are fantastic and we thank them for letting us give Sheba a loving home
Very poor experience with The Dogs Trust. I had applied for 7 little dogs with no results. We have had 40 years experience with rescue dogs of all breeds and needs. We visited the Dogs Trust Canterbury on one of their open days hoping to see the dogs but we were wrong. In the reception area there were only a few large dogs to see behind glass and about 5 of them had been reserved according to their website. In our opinion an open day meant visiting and seeing all the dogs available but we were dreadfully wrong. I emailed to ask if my personal details could be removed from their mailing list. I received an email back that suggested a dog may get distressed in our home and not get on with our cat. We had no cat or any other animals at the time. We given one star but would really like to give zero stars.
Parents go to appointment to look at dogs. Behind a guy who lives in an apartment and told he was OK to take a German Shepherd. Parents are retired, home 24/7, have a fenced in reasonably sized garden. Mom works with dogs for a living. They are apparently not suitable to have a dog. Horribly treated, rude receptionist and would not recommend to anyone.
Friendly staff knowledgeable staff, clean public and animal space/quarters. Great open grounds. Happy dog residents so that says it all. 5 stars from me.
Rehousing a dog is the most rewarding experience, and Canterbury Dogs Trust ensure you and your new family member are a good fit, brilliant at giving advice and help with any problems. Thoroughly recommend
The staff we had meets with we're fantastic with us & the dog we were getting to know.Once it was agreed we would foster her for a week they brought her over then picked her up for her vet check & brought her back.If we have any worries we can contact them for advice.
Was a bit of an anticlimax. Not many dogs. Loads of questions to answer. Still not heard back about mine and husbands application. 100s of people applying forbthe same dog. Now have a puppy, not through them.
Didnt seem to know alot about dogs, helped take one there for rehoming following a complex situation.... the dog barked and jumped when the staff ignored her and took her owner away from her but left within sight.... Told the dog is too 'aggressive' to be rehomed. Complete waste of time and ultimately not helpful for the dog. Wouldnt recommend ever leaving a dog with them, felt bad for the dogs they had, all i could hear was them barking 'aggressively', probably didnt help and made the dog feel extra anxious. Will follow up with a formal complaint to the charity hq
We did Puppy classes with dogs trust, we really enjoyed it
