Booked Dishoom for my wife's birthday and I'm so glad that I did, the place was buzzing with atmosphere and even at 17:00 it was rammed and the staff were on point with service. Our waitress was really thorough in explaining the dishes to us as it was our first time here and really helped with making the meal just right. Food was so good that I couldn't pick a favourite dish. Just a overall grey experience and so glad that we were able to go.
Absolutely amazing. Every dish was so flavorful I couldn’t have imagined it to be any better. We had a large group of 8 and I would definitely recommend getting a reservation. The staff explained the menu for us and helped us pick out dishes. The Ruby chicken is so good and enough for one person. Would recommend getting a side of garlic naan
We visited this place in Nov -22 during visit to Edinburgh. It’s located in central location. It normally have long queues and waiting time- so pre booking is strongly recommend. Hospitality was very good.. we need to wait for 20 mints as it was a busy evening- they provided complementary Tea. Drinks menu was interesting. Apart from regular beer, wine and cocktails- they have good fusion cocktails with indigenous drinks.. they tastes awesome. Food was very good in taste. We enjoyed a lot and love to visit again. Regarding cons: Plate portions can be increased- I feel it a bit less than standard and if they can reduce the waiting time- it would be great !!
Dishoom is a must-visit in Edinburgh. We had such an enjoyable experience. Even though they don’t take dinner reservations, guests can enjoy their great cocktails at the basement bar while waiting for a table. The service is just superb - staff always come round to make sure you’re taken care of, and very accommodating with your requests. The tapas-style modern Indian street cuisine is delicious, as are their drinks.
Nice place to have good Indian food to share! The extra sauces were not necessary as the food on its own is delicious enough and not dry at all. A bit noisy in the evening, but great concept to get people to the bar first and then to the tables to have food. Friendly crew guaranteed, which for sure is a plus
We visited here as a planned meal for my birthday celebration on our recent trip to Edinburgh and it cannot be faulted! The food was out of this world and the service was second to none! Our very friendly waiter took time to explain the menu to us and made recommendations for food based on his favourites which was very helpful! He also took the time to explain the gluten free menu to me and was very thorough in his explanation. And because it was my birthday he sang happy birthday to me and brought my dessert out with a little candle in and knocked the price off our bill, such a lovely touch! But I can't leave a review without mentioning the atmosphere, it was how I would imagine stepping into a restaurant in bombay would feel like. You really get the full experience here and I highly recommend a visit!
Staff: 10/10 Price: ££ Atmosphere: 10/10 From walking into this establishment, to ordering food, to leaving, my experience has been nothing short of perfect. The first thing you experience walking in is the scent of what seems to be incense, immediately immersing you in what the restaurant wishes to be an homage to the Irani cafés of Bombay. Greeted at the desk by the concierge, you can see the kitchen on the ground floor as you make your way up the stairs to the dining area. The decor and ambience of the restaurant is perfect, the music just right, the smells and tastes, amazing. Throughout my visit, my waitress, Patricia I hope I got that right! could not do enough for me. She was extremely attentive and polite and I really felt comfortable whilst browsing the menu and ordering. There is a lovely variety of food to choose from. I opted to have several smaller dishes three is a good size for relative hunger and was full by the end. The flavours of the food. Such simple food, yet complex tastes and presentation. Something I’d honestly expect from a Michelin star restaurant. I cannot recommend this establishment enough. It really exceeded my expectations and I look forward to returning.
Went for breakfast first thing on a Sunday morning and the service from Greg was absolutely top tier, his recommendations were great too. The food came out really quickly even though it was quite busy and the naan rolls were absolutely amazing. Highly recommended, we're definitely going again.
Pleasantly surprised about the quality & taste of the food. close to authentic Indian food. Pricing was on par for capital city centre. Most food Portions are for singles servings only but you can get away with 2 mains for 3 people as long as you have starters. Was disappointed with their chicken biryani… very dry, tiny pieces of chicken and not to my expectations.
Very flavourful and tasty food! Enjoyed the chai and lamb particularly. Personally, I think the taste of the spices and marinate can be stronger like what I tasted in India but this is a more balanced taste suitable for people who are new to Indian food or unable to take lots of spices.
