"Established back in 1983 our family restaurant specializes in Indian & Punjabi cooking. We only cook with olive oil, use Grass-fed Scottish Lamb, free range poultry, ship to plate seafood in 48 hours or less and buy fresh vegetables on a daily basis. We also buy our spices whole and grind them ourselves so that way we know we are getting the full flavor of the spice.Plus we do not add sugar or unhealthy amounts of salt in our food UNLIKE MOST FOOD BUSINESSES.BOTTOM LINE OUR FOOD IS LIGHT AND EXTREMELY HEALTHYTry our house special Karai dishes i can almost guarantee that you have not tasted any better than ours"

Walked in off the street @ 2100 and recieved a warm welcome by staff, we were shown straight to a table and given menus. The service was great and the food was lovely from start to finish. Definitely a good choice in Edinburgh and we will be going again when we're back in the city. These guys have the place spotless and nothing is a problem for them. Cheers for a great experience.
"Living room experience from India!" We were in the mood for Indian food and the Indian Lounge Restaurant did not disappoint. if you are in Edinburg, you must go to this place if you feel like having a wonderful dinner made by an Indian chef in a friendly family-like environment. We had them make us the tandoori tandoori dinner for two special, and it was terrific! I felt like I ate in the living room of an Indian house prepared by family. And it was, just not mine. They were very diligent in cleaning the tables almost after every serving. That was impressive.. But more than that, the friendly and even funny disposition of the servers is what made the experience feel very special for both of us. It is worth the trip to this place if you are anywhere near downtown Edinburg. And I may add, enjoy the cobra beer, if you haven't had Indian beer- terrific!
Recently tried food here! Ambiance and customer service were good. Food was tasty too. We tried some veg and Nonveg dishes. The quantity of starters were less however the main course had good quantity. I feel the prices are a bit too high.
Although the food is very nice the waiter hustled us into things we didn't really want. Three tiny Pakoras as a starter which he very strongly suggested came in at just short of £15. They ask you to check the bill but It's about as decipherable as Egyptian Hieroglyphs are to the average man in the street. The £60 bill was rather more than I was expecting and at that price point next time I would go elsewhere.
Just utterly incredible food. We decided to travel via Edinburgh just so we could pop in. My favourite Indian place in the UK. The food is very tasty with very strong flavours. Their garlic chilli dish is my favourite curry I've ever had
This was one of the few spots open in the 11:00 hour for food a sit down hot meal in this area on a weekday. Fairly good entries, but was not a huge fan of the basement ambiance. Tacky wallpaper, fairly loud music, and a few vases etc around. The bathrooms were kind of a mess. Someone noted in another review that the service was pushy about ordering menu items. I had a similar experience. Instead of describing the food on the menu, they generally pushed you toward menu items. Maybe I should have listened! But that tends to set off alarms in my mind that they are pushing you toward more expensive items.
Ended up here after our original restaurant let us down on Valentine's Day. We went fairly early, and it was pretty quiet, but the place was starting to pick up when we'd finished. We shared haggis pakora and lamb puri as starters, had the butter chicken, and the tandoori grill, which I thoroughly enjoyed for mains. Tried giving me the bill before I'd had a dessert! The Indian style doughnuts were fab! Overall, a nice meal we'd not planned. Certainly return here if we fancy an Indian in Edinburgh!
Good Indian food! Price is decent too, the quantity is adequate. We were four people ordered tandoori roti, puri, two gravy, half tandoori chicken. This was enough as the roti and puri is huge. The staff is friendly and took care of our order well. I recommend the rogan josh!
The ambience was good. The staff was very polite. Reasonably priced and easily accessible. But the food was far from authentic. Chicken chilli: bland, no salt, no spice! Butter Chicken: oh god.. it was not butter chicken- with big pieces of capsicum, fresh onions and tomatoes-tasted like balepuri chicken! Mango lassi: no sugar at all and the lassi tasted like mango flavoured thick water. Naan was ok.
Really good food, meat tender, spices enough for us. Only thing was garlic nann not very thick and pilau more on the Chinese side of rice. Would recommend and come again. It is downstairs for anyone with mobility issues
