Spent 2 nights at the Devonshire Arms Hotel. It's an outstanding hotel. The hotel is spotless, very friendly and polite staff who go out of their way to make your visit special. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Food is of the highest quality. Plus the area surrounding the hotel is stunning. With Bolton Abbey and the Yorkshire Dales on the doorstep making it perfect for a relaxing walk.
We absolutely love this place and decided to take our Great Dane pup on this visit. The staff are fabulous and so attentive, nothing is too much trouble. We couldn't single out any one person as every one was top notch. The room was well serviced and extremely clean with a lovely view of the Gardens. We didn't book dinner this time around with our giant dog! But the breakfast was outstanding and our dog even got her own sausage to enjoy! The Devonshire is filled with luxury but never feels 'stuffy' and the spa facilities are excellent too. We'll definately be returning in the next couple of months and can happily recommend the Devonshire to anyone regardless of age.
It was an amazing place to stay. Helpful staff, with eye to detail. Comfortable room with complicated biscuits, crisps, tea. Coffee facilities. What a big disappointment the evening meal was cold, as was the cooked breakfast. We felt let down by this and only an apology, which ,if the breakfast had been hot we'd have felt they'd taken our comment seriously. However, we didn't let this spoil our stay and it was a memorable visit, with stunning views
We have a very brief, but very lovely stay. The pool is perfect, the food was absolutely sublime. Nothing was too much trouble. We weren't there nearby long enough. We will definitely be back - with the dog next time!Rooms: 5/5
We had a nice stay last weekend, there were lots of good things and a few areas for development. Pros: nice breakfast, good rooms, nice view with a sunrise, snacks in the room and very nice staff. Cons: Spa needs some work, jacuzzi broken, lights in the steam room far too bright and funny smell and drains smelt awful when showering. My husband and I got a massage. Mine with Julie H was great but my husband was unhappy with his and for £140 for both these need to be amazing. The pool is nice but needs more seats around to relax. We were excited for the tasting menu but on the night we were told it was 3 course menu, it was nice food but overpriced per head for a 3 course menu so I was unhappy with how much we paid for what we got. For the price we regretfully won't be returning anytime soon as for hundreds and hundreds of pounds I did expect some of these areas to be better. Hopefully the feedback helps you improve in the future.
To all at The Devonshire Arms Hotel. I reserved a room, on the 9th of December 2022 for my daughter's wedding night which you kindly upgraded. I would like to give you a huge thank you! The room was perfect and all of the staff were wonderful, making the whole occasion very special. Best wishes.Rooms: 5/5
Went to the Brasserie for lunch, accompanied by 2 dogs. they have a dog wash at the door bring your own towel, fantastic The meal, setting and service was superb. It was hubby's Birthday and he was presented with a cake at the end of the meal. No one could wish for more. Food & drinks: Excellent. Beautiful selection and good wine, all topped off with a Remy.
The Spa we didn't stay at the hotel this time is sadly very weary. The "secret spa" with bell tents outside was a nice approach to social distancing for covid but hasn't been maintained nor evolved as it should. Where is the luxury and pampering touches in the bell tents there's plenty of examples elsewhere of how to present these? Where are the fire pits? Where are the outdoor wood fired hot tubs that would so wonderfully accompany them? Why keep the furniture out on a wet and windy day? If you're going to use the outdoors, celebrate it like a Swedish forest spa might. The indoor spa area is also not what it once was. Still a lovely location with lovely service but unfortunately it's lost its charm ... please rediscover it!
We had an amazing lunch, overnight stay and breakfast here all the staff were so friendly with a special shout out to Conor who took extra time to show us around. The rooms were of an amazing standard and our doggo was treated like royaltyRooms: 5/5
No rating for rooms as we didn't stay at the hotel, only went for spa, so can not judge. The spa however, was excellent and I can form an opinion. Took my wife there as a surprise treat for her birthday for a spa day. I got the "Champagne one" package which includes a bottle of champagne as the name states, a Rasul chamber experience and a 45min treatment as well as use of facilities. From the moment we arrived we were taken care of. Staff showed us directly to our own private bell tent that we would be using for the duration of our spa day and provided us with our itinerary and lunch choices. The spa is also not that large and they only have small amounts of people in at any one time it seems and so just adds to that special private experience and felt so much more comfortable than say a larger spa with more people in it. The location overall was stunning. Right in the Dales with stunning scenery all around and generally pretty peaceful aside from the one connecting road, which wasn't really noticeable. The bell tents were a lovely little touch for the day, really giving us a good sense of privacy and somewhere to go to change and relax a bit. We were also pleasantly surprised by the fact that they were heated, so the fact that we went in early April did not hinder our experience at all, and thankfully the weather shone through for us as well. The facilities in general were really lovely. There's a small spa lounge area to relax in whilst you wait for your treatment times if you're having any. The pool was small but just perfect for the venue and the intended use which is of course relaxation instead of training. The jacuzzi when we visited was not operational, however we were warned well in advance when booking about this and even asked if we wanted to delay our booking until it was fixed, on top of that we received £10 per person to spend on site as compensation for the inconvenience, which was very nice of them to do. Steam room and sauna as you would expect of any spa establishment, perfectly fine. Bathrooms just off from the pool with showers and shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. There was also an additional shower outside the steam room and sauna that was quite unique with special options and lighting effects based on the type of shower you choose from the preset buttons, my wife and I found this particularly fun and exciting to use I must admit. As for the treatments themselves, they were very pleasant and we had no complaints. The Rasul chamber which is something neither of us had done before was private in a steam room that we had to ourselves and everything was explained by our host as to how it would work, I would highly recommend giving it a try if you haven't! The other treatment we got from a list of choices with the package was the signature massage. It was very pleasant in a beautifully atmospheric room and both mine and my wife's therapists were delightful and walked us through the process and answered any questions we had. Overall it was a lovely experience and my wife was blown away by the surprise day out for her birthday. We will definitely be returning after their refurb is complete which is taking place from the 17th April - 22nd of May, to which we learnt that the pool is being converted into more of a hydrotherapy pool which would be amazing to try. Highly recommended.
