Spent 2 nights at the Devonshire Arms Hotel. It's an outstanding hotel. The hotel is spotless, very friendly and polite staff who go out of their way to make your visit special. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Food is of the highest quality. Plus the area surrounding the hotel is stunning. With Bolton Abbey and the Yorkshire Dales on the doorstep making it perfect for a relaxing walk.
We absolutely love this place and decided to take our Great Dane pup on this visit. The staff are fabulous and so attentive, nothing is too much trouble. We couldn't single out any one person as every one was top notch. The room was well serviced and extremely clean with a lovely view of the Gardens. We didn't book dinner this time around with our giant dog! But the breakfast was outstanding and our dog even got her own sausage to enjoy! The Devonshire is filled with luxury but never feels 'stuffy' and the spa facilities are excellent too. We'll definately be returning in the next couple of months and can happily recommend the Devonshire to anyone regardless of age.
We have a very brief, but very lovely stay. The pool is perfect, the food was absolutely sublime. Nothing was too much trouble. We weren't there nearby long enough. We will definitely be back - with the dog next time!Rooms: 5/5
We had a nice stay last weekend, there were lots of good things and a few areas for development. Pros: nice breakfast, good rooms, nice view with a sunrise, snacks in the room and very nice staff. Cons: Spa needs some work, jacuzzi broken, lights in the steam room far too bright and funny smell and drains smelt awful when showering. My husband and I got a massage. Mine with Julie H was great but my husband was unhappy with his and for £140 for both these need to be amazing. The pool is nice but needs more seats around to relax. We were excited for the tasting menu but on the night we were told it was 3 course menu, it was nice food but overpriced per head for a 3 course menu so I was unhappy with how much we paid for what we got. For the price we regretfully won't be returning anytime soon as for hundreds and hundreds of pounds I did expect some of these areas to be better. Hopefully the feedback helps you improve in the future.
To all at The Devonshire Arms Hotel. I reserved a room, on the 9th of December 2022 for my daughter's wedding night which you kindly upgraded. I would like to give you a huge thank you! The room was perfect and all of the staff were wonderful, making the whole occasion very special. Best wishes.Rooms: 5/5
Went to the Brasserie for lunch, accompanied by 2 dogs. they have a dog wash at the door bring your own towel, fantastic The meal, setting and service was superb. It was hubby's Birthday and he was presented with a cake at the end of the meal. No one could wish for more. Food & drinks: Excellent. Beautiful selection and good wine, all topped off with a Remy.
The Spa we didn't stay at the hotel this time is sadly very weary. The "secret spa" with bell tents outside was a nice approach to social distancing for covid but hasn't been maintained nor evolved as it should. Where is the luxury and pampering touches in the bell tents there's plenty of examples elsewhere of how to present these? Where are the fire pits? Where are the outdoor wood fired hot tubs that would so wonderfully accompany them? Why keep the furniture out on a wet and windy day? If you're going to use the outdoors, celebrate it like a Swedish forest spa might. The indoor spa area is also not what it once was. Still a lovely location with lovely service but unfortunately it's lost its charm ... please rediscover it!
Fabulous hotel for people with dogs. All the staff are so dog friendly; my four month old pup and I felt really welcome It was our first night away from home and though she's already a great pub dog, I was nervous about how it would go. She was greeted with some Bonios and a really nice ball to play with, and a helping hand wth the bed I'd brought for her. The cocktail bar is a bit odd, and was too warm for a dog with a thick coat, but again the treats were offered and she was very happy wth that. Dinner in the brasserie was pretty good; nice portion of crispy fish and chips wth mushy pass went down nicely, and the chairs were good for clipping a lead in place to stop the pup from roaming for cuddles with other guests Breakfast was similar, but we were allowed into a different room for that which was a nice change. And the eggs royale were ok, if a bit mean with the hollandaise and as is becoming increasingly common everywhere something no butter on the English muffin. However, the tea was really good and plentiful. I can highly recommend the dog lounge as somewhere for a relax and a tea or something stronger. Very comfy sofas, but watch out for hidden treasure your dog may find a dice from under the sofa in our case! Overall, I'm pretty keen to go back again. We didn't get enough time to explore the area with only a one night stay, but the fields nearby, along the river and to the Abbey gave us a couple of puppy-length walks and enough to want to come back for more.
Absolutely beautiful stay! So welcoming for us and our dogs. The food was absolutely incredible.Rooms: 5/5
