This is an amazing service from the start to receiving my power chair.. The process started with an assessment at home. I have MS , with little power in my legs and thankfully qualified. The next stage was a visit to the wheelchair centre where I was carefully measured by an experienced OT and Technician. They were incredibly kind and helpful. Then came the road test! I had imagined a little drive along a corridor - but no! - it was quite a demanding test , lasting about half an hour, and in pouring rain, around the busy area near the Centre. To my delight, and my daughter's surprise, I passed! A frustrating wait of about 8 weeks followed but eventually - the power chair arrived! Again, an OT and the excellent Technician came and fitted the chair to my needs. I have now been using the chair every day for about 3 weeks and it is true to say that it has completely transformed my life! I can go out of the house completely independently; visit friends, sit on the patio, post a letter, go to church -- simple things, but giving me great pleasure. My next venture is the bus! I send a huge "Thank you" to the Staff of the Wheelchair Services and encourage you all to have a go.
