Lovely old stable building. Food is good, with some unique ideas. Staff are friendly & attentive. Wines are good, price wise and quality. Will definitely visit again.
Extremely disappointing. Table booked for 7.45. Order not taken until an hour later. Starter tasty but extremely small. Main courses arrived eventually approx 9.45 two of which were cold and tasteless and were left uneaten. Garlic bread had no flavour of garlic. Friend enjoyed her main but her husband had a cold steak, so out of a party of four people only one enjoyed the food. The bill was discounted but certainly won't return or recommend. One plus point our waitress was delightful.
Went here on 7/617 as we had a groupon voucher to use. Was really looking forward to the meal as have been a couple of times in the past and really enjoyed the food. On this occasion however things were not so enjoyable...the place was pretty much empty with just one other couple dining there so it lacked atmosphere for a start. The starters arrived and I had the arrancini balls...this consisted of two very small balls deep fried of rice with no flavour at all. If I'd of been paying full price I would have been extremely annnoyed. Hoping the main course would be better how can steak n chips go wrong?? I tried to forget about the starter. Steak was really well cooked but...it was supposed to come with garlic mushrooms and roasted vine tomatoes. What we got was shrivelled up mushrooms with no garlic and instead of juicy tomatoes a pile of shredded lettuce dry with no dressing We asked about the tomatoes and was told they are now growing their own and so haven't got any at the moment...really?? Surely if you advertise this on the menu you would order some from your supplier until the homegrown ones are ready! We asked about the garlic mushrooms and a bowl of slimey mushrooms were produced again more buttery than garlicky. One good thing was our waitress was extremely polite and friendly and apologetic and seemed to understand our concerns. We were given a small discount to compensate for the above which was something but such a shame the place has gone so downhill and not the standard it used to be.
What a wonderful place. It has jumped to the top of my favourites list. It has a really lovely atmosphere, lovely grounds, caring staff and the food was absolutely delicious. I'm definitely coming here again!
Fab venue. Excellent service and good food. Now that we've found it it's well off the beaten track, we'll definitely be returning.
A hidden away gem great for lunch or dinner. Now a regular haunt because of the quality of the food, friendly welcoming service, ambience and great value.
