What an excellent place to stay Paul and Debbie are amazing hosts Easy to see how they won Channel 4s 4 in a bed. From the moment we arrived if felt more like visiting an old friend than being a paying guest. The food here is to an exceptionally high standard. The locals were also so friendly and the atmosphere was homely and warm Breakfast set us up for the whole day and was delicious. There is some beautiful walking right behind the pub with amazing views including a quaint waterfall. Would Highly recommend
Lovely old traditional English pub. Friendly service, local beer and excellent sandwiches with a cosy log burner. Pub looks like it could do with a refresh and a good clean.Service: 5/5
Went for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. Good food, attentive staff, quick service, very friendly, and the ‘Bully Bonus’, Black Sheep bitter!Service: 5/5
Popped in for dinner after a good long hike around the local area. Friendly staff, seated us quickly and made sure we were taken care of. Meals were first rate, all homemade including the ice cream and you could tell from the taste. Great flavours and well presented. Had a couple of cask ales with food, well pulled, good temperature, and generally well kept. Would recommend if you're in the area.
Just had a two night stay here and hubby was completely out of his comfort zone as he's not one for country side but this stay may have converted him. 2 of the nicest people running this place and I don't know how anyone can leave a bad review. The food was absolutely divine..rooms where tidy and the bed so comfortable. Very friendly people and couldnt do enough for us. Would highly recommend whether staying or just having a meal there. 10 out of 10
We spent 2 very pleasant evenings in The Crown as we were staying in nearby cottage. Lovely and warm, very friendly landlord and landlady and delicious home cooked food. Will definitely go back.Service: 5/5
A fabulous 2 night stay, little country Inn with Debbie front of house and her partner Paul doing the cooking. They make a great combination, nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent, my husband had the steak one evening and asked for it to be cooked medium/rare, he said it was cooked to perfection and the best he has had in a long time!!! The hearty breakfasts kept us going all day whilst we did our long walks. We certainly plan on returning. Thank you Diane & Alan
Reading previous reviews I can’t quite believe this was the same pub we visited yesterday. We had been travelling for hours and needed to stop for a quick couple of drinks and to change my 2 year old. My daughter can be quite loud but no more than any other toddler & she was a little restless, but please bare in mind there wasn’t even any other customers in the pub so we were not disturbing anyone. we were made to feel extremely unwelcome, with the landlord pulling a face when he saw we had a child with us & making snide comments to his partner. Clearly they have never been in the company of a toddler before Extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. If the pub isn’t child friendly then say it isn’t and we wouldn’t have gone in! Don’t visit this pub if you have children, they don’t even have a high chair.
We did not stay at the pub but at the cottage behind. We stayed a week but the pub was shut most of the time. When we did eat there the food was good, however the pub was dirty the toilets especially were not good and the chef sat outside smoking most of the time outside, The Bar Maid also as soon as she left the bar lit up a cigarette. The entrance to the pub smelt of cigarettes and it was obvious the pub needs a good clean. This is a shame the only pub in the village and it was obvious that they did not care about the standard or tourists, this could be a good pub but needs some desperate TLC.
Popped in for a pint and bite of lunch. Dog friendly and hosts very welcoming and friendly. Excellent food and beerService: 5/5
