This very picturesque old pub restaurant in gorgeous countryside has been a favourite for over 20 years now. The staff are always friendly and efficient. The food is well presented and delicious, from a menu that has a decent range of different things to choose from. The wine list is varied and will cater for most wishes. The last plus is that there is no mobile phone reception!

We had a Saturday lunch here - the two course lunch deal. Fish soup, roast lamb, pork belly and “the mess” shared between the two of us. The ingredients are fresh and locally sourced and in a rustic ambience, we must come back for dinner soon... A perfect lunch outing followed by a walk in the nearby woods. Nestled in the heart of the Chilterns, this pub will not disappoint with its warm welcome, the embrace of the fire place, and the excellent range of wine, including from local wineries.

Certainly top 2 best food and service of all time for me with Veraswamy. The staff are immensely professional, friendly and super great. The chef is just straight on the money. Beautiful country decor great food and wine. The Sunday roast vegetables were twisted to an extent that you will turn to be a vegetarian. The roast beef just melted in my mouth. Great start of a birthday week for my 5 year old son. We will make that 1 hour drive back there again. Thank you

Truly a local gem (thanks, Good Food Guide). Off the beaten track -- you have to know where it's hidden -- but, boy, it sure is worth the trip. You'll find a smallish quirky rural dining pub, not remotely pretentious, which just happens to deliver an adventurous, wide-ranging and entirely delicious menu, reasonably priced, nicely presented and delightfully served. SO well worth a visit!

The food here is absolutely wonderful and for a three course meal it was £30 so very reasonable. The location is down a very quiet country lane and the interior is very quaint. There is an open fire place. I would suggest booking in advance for weekend / evenings. They also do music nights which I am yet to go to. I would highly recommend and have been numerous times and never been disappointed!
