Very basic station which has a regular service to Newcastle/Carlisle and Morpeth. There are shelters and a ticket machine. There's a footbridge, but this does not provide step free access to easily change platforms.. Conveniently located for the town centre.
Car park pay charge by mobile £2.50/ day, ticket machine in shelter, card only. Shelter on both platforms. Timetable. Electronic passengers information displays on both platforms. Clean narrow platforms with many speeding none stopping trains passing.
Services to both Morpeth and Carlisle are once an hour, the Carlisle one stopping at Newcastle. There is a bridge joining the two platforms, and a road overbridge for step-free access. On a Sunday, services only run to the metrocentre instead of Carlisle and run one each way every two hours, however this service still calls at Newcastle for those needing it. This station has a ticket machine, bins and seating, but not a lot of seating is available, only around 3 benches per platform. There is also a shelter on both platforms and a bus stop near by, being either Manor walks for multiple frequent services, or just up the road from platform 2, for the X9 to either Blyth or Newcastle
Great little station, there is a car park which is helpful and shelters while you wait for your train. There are ticket machines and there is a bridge to get to the other platform. Also, there is an announcement system that will let you know when a fast train is approaching so you can stand clear and when stopping trains are approaching. Sadly there are no toilets on the station which can be an inconvenience. Overall a great station though!
Leafy and fairly sheltered with open waiting shelters on both platforms. Fairly frequent local services to Newcastle and Morpeth, with inter-City trains hurtling through at regular intervals so keep well away from the platform edge. Bike rack adjacent to southbound platform and small car park which costs £2.50 per whole day, £10 per week or £30 per month. Wheelchair access reasonable, though route from northbound to southbound platforms via road bridge at south end of station is fairly lengthy.
