This was a superb rail station for both arrival and departure, with lengthy platforms for the long distance services! It is brilliant that Lumo set Morpeth as one of their stops and station signs are very clean helping navigate too, blue theme is kept throughout and station looks especially pretty in the sunset.
A fantastic little station with welcoming staff and excellent connectivity. Offers direct links to many parts of the country, along with a regular Northern service to Newcastle.nnThe main car park can fill up quickly after 9am, but additional council-run car parks just across the road typically have availability.
Twice I have required assistance at Morpeth station and each time Simon has helped. He is caring, considerate and calm in his approach to problem solving and goes beyond the call of duty without being asked. Thanks again Simon, you make a good station better. :-
Beautiful station with lots of interesting architecture and details, including a Victorian post box on the platform.nnThe ticket office and inside shelter was closed when we visited, but there were plenty of shelters on the platforms and a TVM to buy most tickets available.nnServices are regular in both directions, and provided by a range of operating companies. As is the railway, the services were being delayed but that's not the fault of the station, which turned out to be a very pleasant place to have to wait.
Early doors at Morpeth train station. Cafe open great selections of breakfast and pastries, coffee great, friendly staff....cannot fault.
