Crab House Café

About

Award winning seafood restaurant and oyster farm situated in a breathtaking part of Dorset, looking out over Chesil beach.

Story

Here's a little bit about us...
We are situated in a breathtaking part of Dorset, looking out over Chesil beach. We have our own Portland Oyster beds just a stones throw from the restaurant so you can enjoy fresh Oysters on your table within minutes of them leaving the water!

We also specialise in other types of seafood, most loved are the fresh, local Crabs. A good size, caught along the the English Channel, that are then freshly boiled, chopped in half and then stir fried in garlic, chilli, ginger and herbs. The Crabs are served on large wooden boards with a hammer, nut-crackers, various picks and forks and a bib. Don't just take our recommendation, the Crab House Cafe has had the nod of approval from Rick Stein as well as the Observer and all the other broadsheet supplements.

Other than our popular Crabs, the menu at the Crab House consists of delicious fish & seafood recipes all from fish landed within 40 miles.

So why not treat yourself to a tempting meal at the Crab House Cafe and a day out to remember on the Dorset Coast!

Delicious food in a great environment. Easter lunch for four with no alcohol was £100 so pricey but whole lemon sole was stunning and the other dishes were lovely. We sat outside and it was fine.

Not your average cafe. Seafood only, caught locally and prepared by experts. Not expensive, but there is a wide choice and you get what you pay for. Decor very basic, but who's bothered? Well hidden along a track, designed to discourage all but the chosen few. Best to book well in advance if you want to be sure of getting a table. Enjoy!

One of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to. I had the scallops, oysters, mussels and crab. Great taste and quality. Friendly customer service. Highly recommend.

What an amazing find, a real seafood gem. Food was fresh, tasty and well presented, with a good selection on the menu. Staff were friendly and helpful. Indoor and outdoor seating, and a real family friendly atmosphere made this the perfect lunch stop.
